This Life is a Trip show is not very good. The host has as much personality as a rice cracker and his monotone voice is more suited to a show about UFOs.

I can't believe they ordered 13 episodes. I can only hope someone checks out these forums in the morning. This show is so bad I had to register on TC to vent. Cripes.

The host sucks! He must pay the travel channel to be the host. He basically seems like some guy who has gotten rich but doesn't know anything about anything. He is a perfect example of a bad western tourist with no insight whatsoever. He is a waste of a host! And so condescending. His entire trip to Japan was to eat Kobe beef. I understand the premise but he did not add anything to the experience. He presented Japan as a silly country with no background understanding for anything he experienced. It was completely superficial. Any frat boy could have given the same commentary. Please cancel his show! He does the travel channel a disservice.

This is amazing. Just look at our post counts. Maybe this was all some bizarre ploy to get new users on these boards. I kid of course but ti speaks volumes that people have been so annoyed with this show to warrant getting online and typing it out. Awful show. Just awful.

Then again, the more I type, the more I think I'll just get labelled as a wacko.

Oh my god, this is one of the worst shows I've seen on the travel channel. The host is appears to be a complete tool, he doesn't even have any charisma. I signed up just to complain about this program, please take it off the air! The host seems to really work at "how can I act like I'm faking it". I feel I gave the show 2 episodes worth of my time and at this point if I see a commmercial for it, I plan to change the channel. Just that much more of this tool, will be pushing it for me.

Man, I can't believe that this much backlash is going on one hour into the run of a travel channel show. But i have to agree, I have never posted about anything online until today. I must say, this is the worst show i have seen. I love Bourdain's, Zimmern's, Mike Rowe's, Hyneman and Savage's, and yes even Kirsten Gum's shows. I was expecting too much i guess.

I also registered just to complain. The only thing good about the show is that it is only 30 minutes sparing us from further destruction of the integrity of the network. I actually watched two episodes just to give it a chance but come on...The host is insipid and way too white bread to be on a show of introducing, experiencing, and embracing the various rich cultures of the world. If the shot callers at the network are smart, they will change hosts or cancel the show.

The title should be "The Return of the Ugly American". I'm surprised that a local hasn't taken him out for mocking their culture while enhoying their hospitality

I feel better...he's Canadian!!! I just hope this is a take-off...like Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman was in the 70's. Let's see if he goes to Quebec and talks smack there.

Andrew Anthony is the epitome of "Arrogant American." The Travel Channel has always produced amazing shows with hosts that are witty, blunt and edgy without sacrificing integrity, respect and graciousness. Andrew Anthony lacks all qualities that are prevalent in every other Travel Channel shows' host. He is a disgrace to the channel, the American public and mankind. Boot him off, or if you must keep airing this junk, have him return to New Zealand and sit with the Maori men as they watch him speak about feeling less manly wearing a grass skirt.

what a horrible show. This wanna be Anthony Bourdain is just sad. He acts like he has nothing better else better to do then to go to Japan and eat a $600 dollar steak. He makes it sound like he rather be flying a kite. I have had Kobe beef, and it is the most amazing food experiences of my life so far. He looked like he was chewing a live scorpion. What a waste of a time slot.

I had to laugh when I read other people signed up specifically to comment about this show. I did the exact thing. Never have I felt compelled to comment about a tv show until I watched Life's a Trip last night. My wife and I saw the previews and decided to watch. Unfortunately, this No Reservation wannabe fell extremely short. Travel Channel, please read these posts. This show did not entertain, educate, enlighten me in any way. It did waste my time and irritate me enough to say something though. I know it's just a tv show but come on TC, did you really think this show is what people want to see? Travel Channel, you have some good shows and a loyal fanbase. I will continue to watch your other shows, especially Bourdain and Zimmern, but I will never watch Life's a Trip again.

Maybe I'm biased because I've been to Tokyo several times, I've even been to the maid cafe featured in this 'show", but the Kobe episode should have been titled "Japan: a Pompous D-bag's View."
