I don't know what the time frame will be, but it would be great if they could see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Seated in the bleachers in Harold's Square, of course.

Trump Tower, Times Square, Ground Zero, Empire State Building, Central Park, etc.

Albany is 3 hours up the river from NYC if they had time (I don't know if the format of the show will be the same...like on PacRim where they could take day trips to further out locations, etc.) and is the capital of NYS..

OH YEAH and they should meet up with Renee and she could show them around Smile

When you visit New York, you should take the Long Island Rail Road and visit "the Island", if you can find a ride definately check out Montauk Point. Also take the train and visit Flushing, Queens or 8th Avenue in Brooklyn (large Asian community similar to Chinatown).

Where to eat, now Times Square has almost everything, If you like BBQ then Dallas BBQ(reasonably priced also) Of course yo ugot to at least try a street vendor pretzel(with mustard)hot-dsog or shish kabob, and roasted nuts. May not be healthy but they are cheap eats .Grand Central has Juniors Cheese Cake. (also you can take the subway to Brooklyn for the main bakery)Evergreen cemetery Queens NY a cemetery tour. So much to see and do, And the Visitors Centerin tiems Square is helpful and if around spring and summer, one of the many street fairs on the weekends. I never get bored of my favorite city other than Las Vegas.

While in NY you should check out the rest of the state. There's more to NY that just NYC!!!!
Here's a few ideas that are off the beaten path:

1. Go to Buffalo NY to the Anchor Bar, its the birthplace of the original Buffalo wing.

2. Go to Thousands Islands NY and visit Boldt Castle. The story of Boldt and his wife is a real true life fairy tale. But its only open until mid-october so you'd have to go right away.

3. GO to Lake Champlain and look for "Champ", America's Loch Ness Monster.

4. Go to Jamestown NY and visit the "I Love Lucy Museum" Its one of the most famous and beloved american tv shows. Here's a piece of "Lucy" trivia: "I Love Lucy" airs every hour of every day somewhere in the world.

Skip Albany! Geez, don't come all this way and take a day trip outside of NYC! Too much to do!

Take the free Staten Island ferry to see a close up view of the Statue of Liberty if you don't have time/money to spend going to Liberty and Ellis Islands. Walk on Wall Street, get inside the Stock Exchange if you can, go to Ground Zero if you must. Eat dim sum in Chinatown and dessert in Little Italy. Take the subway to midtown and go up to the top of the Empire State Building. Take a walk through Central Park - Beatles fans must make a pilgrimage to Strawberry Fields in front of the Dakota building - go to the Museum of Natural History or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which overlook the park. Eat a pretzel from a street vendor. Work your way to Times Square. Everything you see will cost more than downtown, but the view is free. If you want to see a Broadway show, same day discount tickets are available at the TKTS booth in Times Square (and also at South Street Seaport with a much shorter line). Ride the ferris wheel inside the world's largest Toys R Us, and then play with the toys at FAO Schwarz on Fifth Ave.

I agree that there's a lot to do in NYC but I have another "day trip suggestion" anyway.. About 2 or 3 hours away in Pennsylvania is the Hershey Chocolate Factory with tours and al that as well as Lancaster county and Amish country. A lot of travellers I've met from overseas like the area and it has a lot of really different food, culture, and other variations like the other 5Takes seasons.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but for classic NY food go to Nathan's Famous hotdogs on Coney Island. Heck, going to Coney Island is something that you have to do.
Or if hotdogs aren't your style try finding some of NY's oldest pizza places. NY thin crust is the best pizza in the world.

If doing something kinda touristy is ok try stopping by a filming of "Today" or "Good Morning America"

And don't forget the Statue of Liberty!

When someone is visiting the united states, i obviously think that NYC is a great place for them to see. its full of many different people, sights, smells, etc. but people often forget about the rest of new york. new york in fall is an absolutely beautiful places and it really shouldn't just be passed by.

other places that are breath taking are:
-Niagra Falls
-Adirondecks
-Letchworth
-Finger Lakes region
-Ski destinations (belleayer mountain, kissing bridge, etc) (depending upon when they're going to be here).

i understand that these most likely wont make the list because they aren't exactly major tourist destinations like NYC is.... but they are the places where you can be a traveler, and not a tourist.

If you want great pizza, you should go to Mariella Pizza on 60th Street and Lexington Ave. I call it "The best kept secret in Midtown Manhattan". Their sicilian pizza is superb, and I always have a slice when I travel down to that area. If you really want genuine New York pizza, go there.

Yea, I think they should go to Flushing, walk around Northern Blvd. and Main street, and they should go to all the stadiums, like shea, and yankee stadium

They should go to see a taping of one of the many TV shows filmed in New York. The ones I'd recommend are The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, or Saturday Night Live
