i heard this was the place to be...could anyone offer recommendations on what night to go? do they have discounts / specials?

I am planning a trip to Hawaii for my 30th birthday in February. I am not made of money, but I want to spend as much time there as possible. Does anyone know of some good deals I can take advantage of? Also, I have my heart set on seeing the North Shore and Diamond Head, however everyone keeps telling me to go to Maui rather than Oahu...any advice?
