Hi! The most popular place in Hawaii to spend your vacation in is waikiki beach. Check it out, there are a lot of fun and attraction. For more information you can take a look at here: www.hellowaikiki.com

First you should probably decide which island you want to go. They're all very different from each other.

Oahu is the booming metropolis with a million full-time residents on island, an active night life and lots of traffic and pay parking. It's the home of Waikiki, the North Shore or "Country" as we call it, Pearl Harbor and the capital city of Honolulu. If you've never been to Oahu, be prepared to see a lot more skyscrapers than you may have anticipated on a remote tropical island.

Maui has less crowds than Oahu, but still many modern conveniences. It has a very active art community and is the home of The Road to Hana, Mount Haleakala, Iao Needle, the town of Lahaina, it's neighbor islands of Lanai and Molokai and more.

To learn a little more about the islands check out this article, http://discovergarden.com/getting-to-know-hawaii/

I hope that helps in your decision. I would check craigslist.org for bugalow/villa rentals.

My first suggestion is leave your two year old at home if you can find a babysitter. You probably need a mini-honeymoon! Or go on a Disney Cruise...

I live in Maui and the Travel Channel ALWAYS ignores the best beaches on Maui. They always suggest the standard tourist BS. Lahaina is just so-so. It's dirty, fully of pushy tourists and if you leave your rental car with anything in it, it will get broken into.

Kihei always gets left out. Maalaea Harbor always gets left out. Makena always gets left out - best snorkeling you can find. Big Beach right next to Makena - another excellent beach - Little Beach right next to it is a nudist beach even though it's not "legal". Baldwin Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Try the website http://www.alternative-hawaii.com/accom/mvac.htm and it will show you all kinds of unique accomodations on all the islands - not just the overpriced, understaffed resorts!

Good luck!
