I have registered for the June 2008 Class in New York. I am really excited to go but I have no idea what's in store for me. My hope is to turn the education I receive into a fulfilling career. Since I am really green I am looking for any advice or tips that anyone has to offer. Thank you in advance for your help.

If you are renting all the gear, just bring your self and a notebook.

If you are bringing your own camera, leave everything at home, just camera and a on camera mic, the class is about story telling - GREAT story telling.

Honestly the class is likely to change how you do most thing with a camera, come with a open mind and good walking shoes.

I just finished the class in New York last weekend and I can honestly say it was one of the greatest learning experiences I've had in a VERY long time. Maybe ever. Bo's advice is right on. Bring an open mind and a notebook (but also know most of the notes are in the book they will give you, so you can just sit back and listen.) A good night's sleep each night is also valuable. Smile Have patience with yourself and you will see your skills change right in front of you. It has definitely inspired me to continue working. I'm in the process of buying a new camera today if that tells you anything!

have fun.

Concur, I was one of Bo's classmates in the Santa Barbara class. It is very important for you to focus on the instructions on camera and editing techniques in order to maximize what your learn.

The only other tip I can add at this point is a practical one: (I was also a member with Bo and Dan in Santa Barbara -- Hi guys!)

They're not big on setting formal lunch and dinner breaks, so, think backpacking, and bring in your own fuel: Trail mix, jerky, energy bars, etc...and a water bottle. It will tide you through as you're out running around, or sweating out the final edit.

I learned a lot and had a great (exhausting) time.
Good luck!

I want to thank everyone for the advice. I just got home from my trip to NY & it was all very practical advice.

I had such an amazing time. I met so many great people. I can;t wait to get out there & start shooting.

Thank you all again so much.

Howdy all~

I am looking for a way to get in touch with the people in the TC Academy classes. I am headed into Baja and Copper Canyon and want to invite a graduate of the TCA class along as a shooter. Does anyone have a list of folks from the class in Santa Barbara or NY or ??? I would love to send out an email regarding my project and what it entails.
Thanks
Kyle
