Thanks Solitary. I remember all the time I took looking for it all and since I had it bookmarked...I'm sure there will be new people on the boards for MHL.

I guess since we've got the newbie thread 'stuck' [yay!], perhaps those of you that had put Newbie MH 101 prep topics out recently may want to transfer the info here: I would, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes...

Edited 10/21/06: I've added a couple of the last, best posts from threads started to give newbies info about the show. Please, anyone that has other relevant info, please post it. This isn't my thread, it's everyone's, that we requested be 'stuck on' for those new to MH or this forum, so add to it if need be!

Oh, and my little original piece of content would be this:

i decided to make a thread relating each crew member to their names. first of all, the show is called MOST HAUNTED, and was created by YVETTE FIELDING AND KARL BEATTIE in 2001. the british network, LIVINGtv aired it and the show became a hit. last july, the travel channel started buying the episodes. there was one catch... WE ARE 1 YEAR BEHIND THE UNITED KINGDOM. for example, last halloween, season 7 started in the uk, but we were just watching random episodes from all different seasons before season 6. this halloween, we will finally see the premier of season 7 over here on travel channel. this was a confusing topic and even i only recently figured the whole thing out.

YVETTE FIELDING: short, little blonde thing, host/presenter/executive producer of the show. married to cameraman karl beattie. the couple founded this show in 2001.

KARL BEATTIE: one of the members that went into the graveyard on black bull episode with one other member, stu. producer/cameraman/director of the show, husband of yvette.

STUART TORRIVELL: yvette fieldings cousin. bald guy. cameraman/lighting rigger/steadycam operator.

CATHE HOWE: short, heavyset with brown hair and soft voice. make-up/hair stylist. has been close freind of yvette fielding for a very long time. shes freigtened easily.

JON DIBLEY: blonde haired cameraman. also works on several other popular british tv shows. hes also related to yvette or karl..dont remember. left the show in season 8, which we wont see for a long time probobly.

JON GILBERT: heavy-set with long hair. soundman. very good cook apparently. not to be confused with jon d.

DAVID WELLS: i see him as the cheeky medium, blonde, spikey hair. spiritualist/astrologist. has written different astrology pages in NOW magazine.

IAN CASH: pale with short hair. not usually on camera much. camera assistant.

DEREK ACORAH: the medium that jumps and hops around everywhere. short, blonde/silvery-grey hair. shorter than david wells. hes been working with mh since the beggining, but left at the most haunted live last halloween. we'll only be seeing him in the new episodes up till halloween, and like the uk, wont see him after that. hes been on many, many tv shows. started a not-so-popular show on livingtv (uk) called ghost towns. accused to be fake by many.

RICHARD FELIX: one of the older members of the crew with brown, spikey hair. usually wears a funny looking trench coat. hes also been with the crew for a long time. was let go by someone recently and will not be seen in season 9 or this comming most haunted live in edinburgh.

DR. CIARAN O'KEEF: pale with short hair and scar above his mouth. parasphychologist/psychologist for the show. his job is to analyze the footage and crew members at the end of the investigation to see if there is any solid, concrete evidence of the paranormal. lives in france with his wife.

Hi all Newbies (and fans who just want to know). Since there seem to be quite a few new fans out there and to prevent you from getting flamed by those who think you shouldn’t post if you don’t – here is a list of useless trivia hehehe.

Yvette Fielding and Karl Beattie are married. There are two children, though they try keep their private lives as private as possible – understandably so. Anyway, William, who is about 13 now, is Yvette’s son from a previous marriage. Mary, who is 6ish, is Karl and Yvette’s daughter.

The idea for Most Haunted came about on a Sunday afternoon after they had recently watched “The Blair Witch Project” and then a friend mentioned to them that Michelham Priory was supposed to be bigtime haunted. Thus the saga began.

Rick Fielding, in the first few seasons, is Yvette’s younger brother (10 years younger)

Stuart Torevell (sp?) is Yvette’s cousin and apparently Karl’s best friend.

We here in the States are only in the 6th season and rarely get the Live shows… though we will be getting them this Halloween again – thank you Travel Channel!!!

Derek is gone. Derek has been gone for awhile, though we are still on the Derek eps. David Wells is the main medium, psychic, whatever now and series/season 7 had Gordon Smith, who left after that season. This season has been a bunch of guest mediums/psychics with the last 2 eps being leftovers from last season with Gordon (and Yvette with reddish hair – bad hair choice for her).

No one knows the real reason yet as to why Phil Whyman (from earlier seasons) left the show, though many speculations. Ciaran is the one who tested Derek to find out if he was faking things or not.

There are 2 books out – one from a few years ago by Derek and Yvette and one from this year by Ciaran and Yvette. The first is about MH itself and the newer one is a collection of separate investigations Ciaran and Yvette did more scientifically.

Cath came on as hair/makeup in the 2nd season and was introduced to Yvette through Yvette’s mother as Cath was her hairdresser.

Richard Felix is no longer with the show as of this new Live ep coming up (unless he does the live and then goes) – apparently LivingTV no longer required his services – again, no further explanations.

Leslie Smith is the new historian on the Live shows – and no one knows if she will now take over for the episodes too…. To get an introduction to her watch Tutbury Castle from season 2.

Must see eps (IMHO only):

Hellfire Caves EXTRA (4x05) – Yvette, Phil and Cath make the Keystone Cops seem serious.
Wellington Hotel and EXTRA (4x08) – again really funny moments

Lower Well Head Farm and EXTRA (6x06) – This one and the next are follow-ups to Live in Pendle Hill Halloween 04

Fyvie Castle (6x10) – for the ‘awwwww’ factor in all of us.
Queen Mary 1 & 2 and EXTRAS (6x17 & 18)
Michelham Priory (8x01) – 100th investigation
Margam Castle (8x04) – Why? Because the guest psychic on this one proves Dracula is real!!!!! Would soooo not have gone on a vigil alone with him…. Now, Hugh Jackman dressed as Van Helsing, well that’s a whole other show!!

Yeah, I've been surprised by the low rating also, and felt sure someone is trying to deliberately lower the rating; I guess they must feel some kind of grudge. Not sure why; don't think it's a newbie, because this thread is really for their benefit. I'd hope it wasn't a member; we've included the two really big 'newbie' info posts from other threads, and any of the members is free to add on. Pretty sad, for someone to be so petty.

the sticky was for the mods to sticky the info. We figured why not share the info with people who are new here. Some of us got a bit testy because we were actually given a hard time about it.

Bumps are when you want to bump a thread a bit higher. Some of the regulars here may get testy with each other, but it's like a wacky family at Thanksgiving. Most people here are great and love a good debate.
