After having watched the show on the Rust Belt, I was very disappointed with what was presented about the food in Detroit! In a city that is predominately African American, your segment made it seem as if no African Americans live in Detroit. What's worse is that Tony did not sample any food of African origin! In addition, Detroit has terrific tasting and authintic Mexican,Ethiopian and United States southern foods that derserved to be showcased!

I Absolutely agree with your posting on Detroit. As I am from the city, I was encouraged by many friends to make sure that I watched this episode. My jaw literally dropped to the floor, and has not yet closed. I do not understand how it would even be POSSIBLE to call yourself doing a segment on Detroit without running into ANY African American people!! Contrary to Mr. Bordain's apparent beliefs, Dearborn is not Detroit! I'm assuming that the Polish segment took place in Hamtramack, which is also not technically Detroit, and I couldn't even tell you where that last Belgian segment was even located! What a complete misrepresentation of the city, and it's food. I don't necessarily disagree with the decision to go to other areas in the metro area, but that segment did not even come CLOSE to touching on DETROIT cuisine. I was absolutely DISGUSTED.

I am a current Detroit native however I am moving on to florida
The problem is that how do you find a food to highlight Here in DETROIT when everyone is looking for a way outta DETROIT. Crime is bad I am sure the producers wouldnt allow him to go to places where he may get car jacked. Basically I am surprised he came here and in order to make a somewhat possitive statement about DETROIT he in fact had too get out of it! |

tankhides, if you are not aware of the many great soulfood restaurants in Detroit, then I can't help you. You're obviously not paying attention. I think that it is ridiculous to make reference to the crime in Detroit being a factor in the show's decision not to go to the city proper. This show has been to numerous so-called "third-world" countries, where the probability of crime occurring is exponentially higher than it would be in Detroit. Actually, I don't even know why I responding to such an ignorant posting. Spell-check would be a good idea for you.
