I went on a business trip and found myself wanting a damned good steak. I asked the hotel staff and they started directing me to the nearest Outback. I cut them off and asked if any of them watched No Reservations. 2 of the 3 said yes. I reminded them of Tony's rule of ask the locals where the hidden jewels are and one lit right up and directed me to a place called A.P Stumps but he warned me that it was pricey.

I flashed my corporate Amex and told him I wasn't the one paying for my dinner.

With a set of directions in hand I set out to find the place. Once I sat down at the bar and killed half a Guinness while pouring over the menu I talked to the barman (another local) about what he thought of things on the menu.

I ended up with something that wasn't quite on the menu and usually only made for the staff which was pure and absolute carnivore heaven. It was a specially prepared type of rib-eye steak.

It's been a couple years but I can still remember the amazing complex taste, the texture and the food bliss.

Thanks, Mr. Bourdain, you've shown me the light.

Now, whenever I travel, I follow his rule of follow the locals and it works out great.
