First of all I want to thank Anthony and his crew for doing a show about my beautiful Colombia. I felt really proud of being Colombian last night!
The food looked amazing!!!! I haven't seen chunchurria in years! The "Calentado" looked sooo good! You showed the true essence of our culture! Yes there are PLENTY of gorgeous places in Colombia, a lot of nicer restaurants, but you're not going to feel and truly experience our culture in those places!! Can you imagine eating "Sancocho in a fancy restaurant" It will never taste the same way!!!! The wood is what gives it the flavor!! Remember?? |

Great show... you & your crew really showed amazing places in Colombia. I remember going to the "farmer's market" for breakfast after parties in little towns, as you did at the Minorista in Medellin. I wrote down in my to-visit list the restaurant "pa'querertetanto", I was so nostalgic of the food in my country. I am so glad I was skiping channels on my tv and foud your show. THANKS for visiting and portraying Colombia!!

I was waiting with great anticipation for this show since Colombia's biggest newspaper talked about it a few months ago. I have to say I absolutely loved it. It made me feel nostalgic and hungry
Thank you for portraying a nice and delicious aspect from Colombia. |

Hello, my wife and I watched the program with great interest as she is from Baranquilla. I am from the US but I have spent quite a bit of time in Baranquilla and Cartagena. We both enjoyed the segment in Cartagena very much and the beginning part of the Medellin segment. We lost interest as soon as the show went to the poor areas showing young gang-banging rap wannabes - you definitely hit a nerve with my wife as she not happy with that depiction. In all of my travels to Colombia, I have not seen any of this (not to say that it doesn't exist) and I have been in some poor neighborhoods. I thought this part of the show detracted from the new Colombia that is emerging and instead rekindled the old stereotypes that really no longer apply. With that said, overall the program was well done. As a future suggestion, head down to Barranquilla in February during the Carnavel and try some "arroz de liza" or "sopa de ojo de vaca". Cheers!

I disagree with you Lilly. If you see any of the No Reservation shows, Tony always portrays the average people. He's not going to upscale places and so on. He goes where the average people go, he eats with them and hangs out with them and that's the beauty of the show. He showed some of the poor areas of our cities, but he showed them with beauty.

I really want to thank you for finally putting Colombia in such a positive light. For years I have endured those negative comments so familiar to our people and our country. Being a proud New Yorker and Colombian it is good to see another New Yorker do the right thing! Thank you and next time visit Cali during the Christmas holiday...A que Rumba!

The Colombian episode was fantastic. It was simple and to the point. I loved seeing Tony sample all the different types of foods in Colombian. Traveling isn't just about seeing sites and meeting people, but also a culinary experience as well. I really liked that this episode showed alot of Tony's personality in integrating with the locals about their food. The street stalls segment was great.....I don't know why America can't have those and more outdoor open air markets.

It was a very interesting program. I hope you go back to show Colombia's comtemporary food, and for that you need to go to Bogota. The city even has a Gourmet Zone: Zona G!
Hope to see you there, and hope to see you in Santander, and in Providencia. Men Colombia means many differents things! Gracias anyway! Salud con aguardiente! |

Does anyone know what they were doing the chicken on the show (right before it was killed).
The Colombian was doing something to its eyes. Thanks! (Sorry for the double post). |

I was very impressed with the Colombia show. I had been there in 1989 and it was not a fun time. I hadn't realized how much positive change had occurred until I saw the show. It's such a beautiful country and I'm glad to see it's safe to venture there again.
Incidentally, guys in South America all swear that the prettiest girls on the continent are from Colombia. |

Greetings!
Thank you very much for your visit to Medellin, Colombia. We enjoy a lot your TV show. Nevertheless, the preparation and ingredients of the dish called "Sancocho" is not the best, like the rap of those young men which is not a representative aspect of our culture (Paisa culture). The girl who guided Tony didn't had any knowledge of cooking. We appreciate your good intentions to show a little aspect of our city. Hope you come back soon. Best regards, P.S. "Guascas" are not used to prepare a "Sancocho". Instead we use coriander. |
