Whatever Bourdain, I'm sure you view this as overdue. First, while you seem infinitely more intellectual, Ruhlman is cuter. Second, you left 3/5 chef holes undiscovered- what no Kerry Simon, por quoi? Third, go to Albuquerque, visit Tom White, chef and proprietor of La Scala and more- do yourself a favor!! Lastly, we are a nation of cultures and flavors- don't miss it.

Tony is a complete and unrepentant *****, which is right where he needs to be to keep the momentum.
His raw, straightforward attitude has been the attraction for the past 6 seasons, and his unremitting and unflinching ability to call things as they are without equivocation or BS is more than refreshing in this day and age of political correctness McCarthyism. Please don't subscumb to the temptation to mitigate or video edit down his persona or viewpoints. It's what made and continues to make the show a success. Not saying make him into a profanity charactiture, but continue to keep it honest and close to the original roots. I know he's mellowed a bit with success and the birth of his daughter, but keep the raw stuff coming. That's what built the base and keeps the show a success. The recent rust belt episode is a perfect example. Cheers, and looking forward to another great season. |

I sent this to Saveur Magazine. If they choose to publish it or not, I think the Travel Channel and you should know.
I have been in the travel and tourism industry for about twenty years and understand the in’s and out’s of a professional kitchen. In his book Kitchen Confidential, Anthony Bourdain, tells the truth of the inner workings of a restaurant and the people who work in it. Everyone should read this book. Hopefully it would make the general public be more appreciative of the “hands that feed them” (shall I say, “sauce on the side”?). Because of his brut honesty and fall down, laugh out loud, sarcasm expressed in Kitchen Confidential, I knew I would love his global gastronomic travel show, No Reservations. Eloquently narrated by Tony, he and his crew bring the viewer to out of the way places in different countries and show how real people live, eat, and enjoy life. My personal favorite episodes are; Lebanon, The Rust Belt, and Columbia. Currently, I am a college student after dropping out nineteen years ago and my focus is cross cultural psychology. I hope to one day, somehow influence people to explore other cultures through food and travel. To see the world as other live it and not as a tourist sitting on a tinted window, air conditioned tour bus. Thank you Tony, you inspire me to cook better, eat better, and travel better. –Elizabeth J. Hartman |

So firstly, I owe you thanks. I recently visited Chicago and to be honest found it tricky to get some good food... a problem given that its renowned for good food. The Taste of Chicago happened to be on and sure.. it had some pretty good food, but my expectations were high. I searched the downtown area with my wife for some iconic food locations but struggled to say the least.... we found a roof top bar over one of the hotels which had some darn good food, and even better drinks with even better views, but the food was still a little lacking overall. I spent a good couple of hours searching the web for restaurants with good reviews and consistently came across Avec. When i noticed it had been one of the places your show had visited, i didnt even think twice. It was the next destination of choice and it was so damn amazing. Not only was the wine great and the atmosphere amazing (reminded me of my home town.. Melbourne back in Australia), but the food was.. well. bloody awesome. Thank you once again guys for having reported on one of the best locations known! Sincerely... great work. m

Anthony...My mom and I love you. she is 86 years old and I call her up so she can watch you as she is in assisted living. She always says how cute you are and I agree, as well as funny and talented. She told me she wondered how come you wore your wedding band on your thumb. I explained to her and now I see you lost it. We look forward to many more of your wonderful and funny travel and cooking tales. I am not as clever a writer as you or your fans, just let it be known how loved you are and you crack me up! thanks for making me laugh and cry and get hungry too watching you! love valerie and MOM, Bernice!
