" I've eaten a lot of Chili. Most of it gave me heartburn - and not the good kind of heartburn that real Chili gives you. The vast majority of people in thes country have probably never had real heartburn. Because Chili is not a Midwest thing. It's not a New England thing. It's not a Northwestern thing. And no, it's not a California thing either - at least not north of San Diego. There are no bean prouts in Chili and we don't make it with tofu.
Chili comes from the Southwest. For the geographically challenged that would be the lower left hand corner of the United States. It was invented (if that is the right word) by Native Americans." That is a quote from my brother's "Little Book of Chili", and I would like for Anthony Bourdaine to meet him. I think together, they could make a great show on Chili and the real Southwest.
