Very cool episode, very inspirational. I am encouraged to build a big pit fire, but alas, I live in SoCal and the hills would ignite in seconds, so, it's to the gas grill I go.
The ep really turned me onto Uruguay. It seems relatively trouble free compared to most countries in the world, so it's not a place you think of much. But I think I'll add it to my shortlist. |

Hi, I was watching TV the other night when it caught my eye that Anthony was going to be in "my country" as our family usually refers to Uruguay. I have been in USA since 1969, but visit as often as possible as my family and my retired parents still live there, as a matter of fact we had a mini reunion in 2006 in Piriapolis and decided to invest in property in the area. This show allowed people to learn about our country as it is TODAY, a laid back kind of place, where everyone is welcomed and there is plenty of meat to go around, a typical "asado" (BBQ) could last a whole day, as you taste all of the different delicacies that Uruguay has to offer. Welcome to the family Anthony!!! Uruguay que no ni no???

What a great show! it was terrific to see Tony and his brother, he was cool. The best episode I have seen so far- and I see them all- huge fan! Tony you rock! P.S. I wish I could move like those gals dancing.

Could I have been more hungry after watching this episode? I don't think so. Although I do believe I had a virtual heart-attack.

Although I agree people should be more honest about where their food comes from, I don't think Tony is part of the problem, I think he's part of the solution. He does show us a LOT of the reality of what it takes to put meat on the table, and I don't think he ever has looked down on ANYONE, let alone the people who kill his food. I think you have forgotten one important detail! HE'S FROM NEW YORK!!!! Tony is not a rugged cowboy or back country bow-hunter, even though he projects a maverick persona and hangs out with Marco Pierre White and Ted Nugent. Being a New Yorker, his wilderness skills are strikingly absent. Did you see him try to chop wood in Portland? I thought he was going to cut off his own leg! Surely you noticed how strikingly inept he was with the shotgun on the Quebec episode? (I mean seriously, he was sooo bad, it makes me wonder if he was the one who actually shot the deer in London...) Although Tony has a soft spot for vermin such as camels and armadillos, do notice that he goes through with it in the end. He doesn't turn his nose up at it, or the people. The fact that he makes himself do things that he's not comfortable with is one of the most admirable things about the show, and it takes a lot of respect for a person to try walking in their shoes. He shot the deer in London, he stabbed the pig in Malaysia, he will probably never lose his city-boy soft spot for furry woodland creatures, but he knows how to push himself beyond his comfort zone, and by doing so, I think shows respect for those who do his killing for him. |

Mod Ben:
Don't forget to make this episode into a sticky as well. Thanks to taking my suggestion to clean up this forum. |
