Food porn-wise, probably one of the best episodes of NR I've seen. Asador Etxebarri is a place I've dreamed of going for years. It was great in a drool-all-over-myself way to have the virtual experience of it through Tony. It was also great to see Tony with old friends. Anyone who has read A Cook's Tour or seen the San Sebastian episode on FN, knows the special place the Arzaks hold in Tony's esteem. And Lucy Garcia and Albert Adria from "Decoding Ferran Adria." Way cool! Anyone who's interested should check out pictures of Adria's desserts at www.elbulli.com. They are mind-blowingly beautiful! This was, indeed, a hard-core food episode for hard-core foodies.

The everyday food in Spain IS crap just as the everyday food here can be crap. It all depends on who is doing it and what they are doing it with..

Tony's little Spain moments were beautiful, really pure life. The charred leeks wrapped in newspaper and sucked down whilst chugging on a porron....well, what's not to love?

Incidently that show sent me straight to The Spanish Table the next day to buy a porron, a cazuela, and some canned razor clams, mmmm. Someone else was buying a porron. We both looked at each other started laughing.

Bourdain is good for commerce! He must really hate that.....

Real disappointment - we're going to Spain next month and we eagerly started watching the show thinking we'll learn a thing or two and know what to order for when we go - Bourdain is a real disappointment this go-around - he actually sounded like we were going to see him explore some real food and not some fluff about desserts, chocolate and canned seafood - give me a break!!! I can go to NYC to find some fancy chocolate creations...no need to show us desserts in Spain!!!!
Had to change the channel - what a let down...

Sorry losers. Spain is awesome. If you didn't have excellent food, you weren't eating for flavor or went to tourist places. I have been, loved it and can't wait to go back. Like any other metropolitan city, there are places that serve crappy food. But if you go to the local mercato in Spain, won't happen. Like many other cultures around the world that love and value food, overall, Spainards take pride, enjoy and love sharing their food. You can't go to Mickey D's to TG Funsters, but that is what I love about Spain. It is not about the chain.
What was great about this show, was that it showed both the simple, fresh foods and the modern exploration of food, that Spain is known for. Spain has influenced chefs around the world, and this show demonstrated that.
Keep up or get off.
