I live for the strange foods of different cultures -- my favorites that I've had:

1) Balut
2) Haggis

But I'm always looking for something new, especially if it flies, crawls or swims.....

1. Why are those your favorites(flavor, texture, weirdness factor, etc)?

2.What are you most looking forward to trying next?

yey, jkmattson - long live the open-minded foodie. being from the philippines, i get vilified a lot for enjoying weird food. i love balut, especially the broth you get to slurp after cracking the top of the egg. full of protein!

as for me, i'm all excited about andrew visiting my home country. let's hope he OBJECTIVELY displays shows filipino cuisine as it is, unique and delicious and worth a try.

First and foremost, I am 100% filipino and very proud of my culture. I didn't even know half of those things that filipino's eat. I was born in Manila (capital) and spent quite some time there. I'm 26 now and currently in NYC. I am very excited that Mr.Zimmern took the time out to visit our exotic & wonderful country, the Philippines. Even though he might have tried eating the most grossest things while being there. NOT ALL FILIPINOS eat that stuff. We stay basically with primary food such as BEEF, PORK, CHICKEN & FISH. Those things he had tried on the episode are mostly all DELICACIES. And every island is different, languages and of course different foods. Again, I am happy that this show was put on and I am definitely going to buy the DVD when it comes out. Thanks Mr. Zimmern. TWO THUMBS UP! keep up the GOOD
WORK!! Smile
P.S.
WHAT ABOUT THAT BEATING HEART OF THE FROG HE ATE YESTERDAY IN JAPAN??!! nothing tops THAT! it was still BEATING!!
