Mr Zimmern, I enjoyed the premiere of your new show immensely! Mabuhay, like we like to say back in the Philippines!

You made this Manileña wax sentimental about my favorite comfort foods - okoy (shrimp pancakes), balut-penoy (steamed duck eggs), ice cream sa tinapay (ice cream in rolls), and most importantly banana que. You made my mouth water for sisig, grilled tuna collars, and ginataang bilo-bilo!

I thank you immensely for presenting Filipino food for what it is - adventurous but delicious! I never really realized how true the saying was about how one could never take the country out of the girl... I may have been based in NYC for years, but I'm still a Filipina at heart. I wish you much success.

First and foremost, I am 100% filipino and very proud of my culture. I didn't even know half of those things that filipino's eat. I was born in Manila (capital) and spent quite some time there. I'm 26 now and currently in NYC. I am very excited that Mr.Zimmern took the time out to visit our exotic & wonderful country, the Philippines. Even though he might have tried eating the most grossest things while being there. NOT ALL FILIPINOS eat that stuff. We stay basically with primary food such as BEEF, PORK, CHICKEN & FISH. Those things he had tried on the episode are mostly all DELICACIES. And every island is different, languages and of course different foods. Again, I am happy that this show was put on and I am definitely going to buy the DVD when it comes out. Thanks Mr. Zimmern. TWO THUMBS UP! keep up the GOOD
WORK!! Smile
P.S.
WHAT ABOUT THAT BEATING HEART OF THE FROG HE ATE YESTERDAY IN JAPAN??!! nothing tops THAT! it was still BEATING!!

This is the best new show! Razz Andrew Zimmern defintely has balls. Damn. We're amazed and impresed at what this guy does for his show. He appears amazingly cool, and is respectful, polite and really comes across as such a nice guy. I'd love to travel and eat in his footsteps! The Japan show was so interesting- especially the lizard sake and frog sashimi+heart! Freaky sweet! We enjoyed the Philippines show too- we thoroughly appreciated his efforts to show the friendly people, beautiful beaches, and wacky melange of spanish-american-asian influences on their food. He's so enthusiastic about all his eating adventures- I liked seeing the palenque farmers market scenes, and I could totally imagine the chaos and excitement of being there around all that fresh produce and seafood and meats. We're extremely thrilled that he has this show! Thanks!! Hooray!

Hey Andrew, Love your show...I've been waiting for your shows to come up with foods of the world. Have you considered the foods in Korea? I wanna see you "woof" down a live octopus. What about foods of the Eskimos...raw seal...whale meat...mmmmmmmmmmmmm good. Keep the show going man.

We love your show Andrew!! All the tv's in the house were tuned into your program last night. Andrew you make this program sooo entertaining and funny. Your show was the talk around the water cooler this morning at work. Besided the shock value of your foods, its opens your awareness of the different cultures and for that reason, I let my kids watch this program. I hope this show stays on for a long time. THANKS

It was great to see a show on the Philippines, most especially being full filipino. I saw some familiar foods and some very unfamiliar foods. I saw a very different type of Dinuguan, one of my favorite foods. I also wondered why Andrew didn't like the ube ice cream. But what really amazed me was the durian, my uncle owns a durian plantation in the Philippines and at first I didn't like the stuff, but I did get used to it and I liked to eat durian candy. But Andrew could eat some of the most imaginable things, but couldn't take a bite of durian.. but I guess people have different tastes. Great Show!

the show on morocco was cool, too. i love all that lamb meat, man! i can only imagine how mouthwatering that must be with the cumin salt on it. i think i'll pass on the 'mystery meat' with the egg though - maybe, when i acquire mr zimmern's iron guts, i'll give it a go. what did he call that 'mystery meat' again? i keep forgetting... I miss some of the foods in the Philippines too. My hat's off to Andrew for trying balut and some of the more exotic foods. I tried it once but couldn't get past the smell. I had the same problem with durian.

One thing I miss is halo halo. Masarap! Especially with the hot humid climate in the Philippines (a lot like the summers here outside St. Louis). I also miss bangus cooked over charcoal and served on a banana leaf. Mmmmm, fresh bananas, and so many different kinds too.
