I'm going to China in a few months and I would love to try eating food from vendor's carts. But since I don't want to pick up any parasites that I'm not conditioned to process, I'm a little hesitant. Any suggestions on what is/isn't safe to eat?

I'm no expert, but I ate food from vendors in China and I'm fine, as are my husband and kids.

I just moved back from Beijing, the street food is AMAZING and one of the most important parts of your experience. I'd recommend not being too adventurous until your stomach has become accustomed to the food. During the summer months be cautious of some of the meats that stay out n the hot weather all day, but other than that... Go all out and eat as much as you can find. Particularly the trash can sweet potatoes that are around every corner and hit up "小吃街“ literally "small eats street." If it's remotely edible, it's there.
