Hello all

I am planning a family vacation and awhile back thier was a show on the travel channel that showed stuff like gold panning in California and others.

I am trying to find out the name/location of the one for the ruby digging.

From what I remember of it, you do not get buckets of dirt to sift threw, but you get to actually mine the cliffs. Can help me out please on the name and location of this?

I know there's a few mines in NC, but I don't know of any in CA. There's tons of gold opportunities here though. Ive been on several mine tours as well as gold panning. It's all good fun. You can also go out to the Salton sea to find Halite, or every year there's a "Gem-O-Rama" on Searles lake. Not sure if this helped at all

I don't know about rubys, but there are Quartz and Diamond mines in Arkansas... you pay $20 for the Quartz and mine all day - and you will definitely come out with some real treasures!!

There is an AMAZING luxury lodge for families called Anedodi - http://www.anedodi.com - you may wish to fly into Little Rock, go Quartz mining then drive to the lodge to stay for a week - lots of adventure activities to do, like water skiing, kayaking the Buffalo River and rock climbing.
