Well, you know it's not going to be above the well. Whereabouts is your land?

Shadow,
Here are a few secrets: 1. If there are any OLD trees on the property, LOOK UP at the branches. Note if there are any nails hammered in there. Old timers have used the nail in a limb with a plumb line to bury their booty. Even though the limb has grown over time, still, if you find something like that, there a possibility that there could be treasure amongst the area. This is a long shot, but I've heard of it happening. 2. Out buildings - I found 2 old nail kegs, buried at the corners of out buildings. Nothing was in there but still the same, something was at one time and provisions had been made to hide a stash. 3. Unusual indentations in the ground - This is how I noticed the buried nail kegs. The dirt was settling out and left 2 basketball size indentations. 4. If it's farm land - LOOK DOWN at the soil, Notice if there is anything in the dirt that doesn't NATURALLY belong there(pieces of old broken glass, broken plates, small pieces of brick, stones, old pottery, etc.) That tells me that at one time someone has possibly congregated in that area. Case in point, I inquired to the landowner on a particular area of farm land within walking distance of my house that had small shards of broken pottery, glass and dime size pieces of brick in about a 300 square ft area. Since the family was pretty versed on their heritage and they had several generations of family that farmed and inhabitated that land, I thought they could enlighted me on what could of possibly been there. They told me nothing that they had ever heard of was ever in that spot. It was just farm land. After permission was granted to do some detecting, I was able to find several Indian Head pennies(1873 to be the oldest, a couple of buffalo's, several flat buttons and civil war buttons, chewed up mini balls, etc. I hope this can start you on your way to finding treasures and make SURE your detector is set and functioning properly. Work the loopin close swings and it'll all come. Chris www.backbaymining.com |

Picked up a silver peso dated 1783 two days ago in the spot "where nothing has ever been". How in the world it got in the middle of a farm field is beyond me. That goes to show, look down! Chris www.backbaymining.com
