Are there places/programs out there that will allow people to dive for sunken treasure?

Hi Reverend,
The big one would be the Mel Fisher guys at:

http://www.melfisher.com/

Click on "Salvage Operations" - "Join The Crew" to apply as a crew diver.
Or click on "Contact" and ask if they are accepting new investors. Investors get a share of finds and have access to dive on the project they invest in.

There must be more; if I hear of others I will post here.
Best wishes, -Rocky.

Hey Reverend,
There are other salvage, exploration, & sunken treasure companies out there, but watch out. I recall being pitched the opportunity to invest in a publicy traded company a year or so ago named "Deep Blue Marine, Inc." stock symbol DPBM.

They had been in business for some time, with a recent high price of $1.05 in march of '04. Looking deeper, it seemed to me that they were spending more money trying to sell their stock than in looking for treasure. They had advertising campaigns and celebrity spokespersons, but no boats. That's right. According to the prospectus the money they were supposed to make off the celebrities & advertising would be spent BUYING the equipment needed. I was left asking myself if they had been in business all this time, WHERE are the boats, where is the proton magnetometer, where is the side-scan radar?
Long story short, they are still limping along. Stock is valued at $0.003, that's three-tenths of a cent per share assuming you can find someone who wants to buy it from you. Thank God I was able to have talked some friends out of buying.
Now, they may be good-hearted, experienced people at DPBM but you can't turn around a flawed business plan with smoke & mirrors.
Even if everything is in place (experienced personnel & management, research, all equipment, and kick-ass financial controls) it's a gamble. But in the latter case, all they are looking for is a 'grubstake' to pay for a year or 2 or 5 of search and salvage costs. And they will gladly give you a share of the take for your risk. Some will let investor / divers join in on their vacations (hey, it's free labor, and great press).
If we find the right opportunity maybe we'll meet out there.
-Rocky.
