We have alot more here in the desert than just fire agate, we have geode beds, fossils, tons of other agates, and chalcedony formations, quartz crystals, garnets, and GOLD.
Check out some of the treasures I've found including a 2 1/2 pound, yes pound GOLD nugget @

As the Field Trip Chair for the Culver City Rock & mineral Club, I am always looking for a new place to lead a few members on a field trip. My 12-year-old daughter & I went to the Hauser geode beds for the first time 2 months ago. I'm going to poll my club as to what the members want to hunt for - but I suspect that quartz crystals, garnets & agates would all be of interest. Would you ever be willing to provide information to our club and/or join/lead us on a field trip? I'm famous for bringing great homemade brownies on field trips.

The time window is closing quick for an Opal Hill Mine this season. The summer heat is rolling in quick, we've already been over 100 degrees twice this year. When it's 120 - 130 here through the summer desert travel is not a good idea, no treasure is worth your life. We at Wiita Mining want to thank everyone who we guided out in the desert this season, and are already filling up with reservations for fall 2008 - winter 2009. Visit our web site to find out about good summer sites, and tours we will conduct this summer. www.wiitaminingandexploration.com
