I have just recently lost my job along with 6 million other americans and have always loved treasure hunting. I have had a little experience with my father treasure hunting and loved it. I want to know is there a legitimate possibility to make a living hunting treasure? I also want to know if Travel Channel has opportunities with this show as a researcher, treasure hunter, camera man, or other. Is their any organizations in my area for treasure hunting? I live in the Metro Kansas City area.

Dear Bam,
Ouch. About the only thing I know of near Kansas City are geodes near Alexandria. It's a fee dig place. Inquire at
Sheffler Rock Shop
JCT 61-136 Hwy
Alexandria, MO 63430
(660) 754-6443

and some fossilized shells just north of New London in a road cut near the Salt River bridge.

Interesting, but neither of those are particularly valuable.

Check out the Missouri wiki page at:

it might give you some more ideas.
And look up your local gem & mineral club. There are probably a few old hands at searching for treasure troves in Missouri.
Happy hunting,
-Rocky.
