Does anyone remember the episode where they went to San Diego, CA? I cannot remember the information and I'd like to take my daughter. OR does anyone know of any other places to go in Southern Cali?

The hills in San Pedro are littered with fossil shells. I used to go up there with my geology class. Not many great finds but interesting to show how much of the land used to be under water...

alynlbc,
I think you were referring to the tourmaline show. Click on this link. All previous shows are archived.

Then there was the Big Sur jade show. Not too far to go for a Southern Californian.

I'll check my field notes and post here anything else I have near Lng Beach.
Enjoy,

alynlbc,
I've checked my notes. I have a few sites in mind within 50 miles of Long Beach, everything from fossils to jasper, bloodstone, rhodonite, even gold, but I hesitate to post them here. The sites are near urban areas, some are on public access rights of way, 2 are abandoned mines or mines with uncertain status. If someone were to park wrong, dig in the wrong fashion or the wrong place they could be cited or fined. Not to mention the bad press for our hobby. Ignorance is NOT bliss.

Have you joined the Long Beach M&GS?
