I am going to New Orleans with my boyfriend October 7-11, and need advice on where to stay. I am looking to spend about $200 a night max (a little flexible on price). Ideally it would be somewhere a little fancy, but with New Orleans charm(aka I don't want to stay in a hotel that looks the same from city to city!). I was looking into some of the haunted hotels, and some of them looked pretty cool but I can't tell if it is just because they are the premium rooms on the website, or if all the rooms really are nice. Any advice whatsoever is much appreciated!
My wife and I always like the Hotel St. Marie. It's a great location, in the French Quarter, has parking, and rooms with balconies. We always stop by the visitors center on hwy. 61 on the Mississippi/Louisiana line and they have daily specials sent to them from the hotel. We have stayed there a many of times and always enjoy this hotel. We also like the Harrah's hotel. Harrahs has really nice rooms and is also in a great location. I'm sure there are more, but these two are our favorites. Also you may want to spend a little time in Natchez Ms. Its just up 61. Natchez is the antebellum capital of the world, and has huge antebellum mansions to tour.If you go to Natchez take a carriage tour to find out the good resturaunts and the must do's.
