What precautions do you guys and your crew have to take in order to avoid spreading any diseases to the groups you visit...is this even a problem that you face? Do you have to prepare for potential contraction of any illnesses local to the peoples you visit?

Report from the field on problems caused by reality TV filming in the Manu National Park, Peru

http://www.theasa.org/download...bato%20epidemics.pdf

Posted is a report by Daniel Rodriguez on the case of the November 2007 epidemics outbreak among the Matsiguenka in initial contact in Manu National Park in Peru.

This was already reported in the Guardian in March 2008.

This well documented report highlights the role of the media and reality TV and its fascination for 'extreme tourism'.

It was discussed in the blog in Autumn 08.
