Rusinga Island-

The place is located on Lake Victoria is on an embankment with the mainland (Kisumu distance of 95 km). The biggest impression in this giant bird of paradise, the osprey. More than 100 species of bird have been recorded around the island and other residents include hippos, giant monitor lizards and spotted neck otters. Rusinga Island is visited by fly-in fishing safaris, some from the Masai Mara for a day, or by ferry.Rusinga and Mfangano Islands on Lake Victoria are popular with well-heeled game fishermen.The island is ideal for fishing.
Also located on Rusinga a prehistoric archaeological site. Mary Leakey discovered the skull of this proconsul Africanus, an ancestor of man.
The foods include freshly fried fish, roasted(BBQ) meats,and of course a cold beer.
