I know it's not exactly as exotic as Thailand, Panama, or Turkey and doesn't have the same flare that certain American cities such as New York, Chicago or San Fransisco possess, but Austin is a variable melting pot of cuisines from all over and deserves a little attention.

As a born and raised Austinite, I have had the privilage of watching this cities eataries grow from relatively normalcy and monotony into positively exquisite urban dive spots that cater to a various cornacopia of tastes.

One of the latest trends to emerge here has been the trailer park eaterys. Various open lots around Austin have opened up to small kitchen trailers that serve creations ranging from cup cakes (Hey Cupcake) to vietnamese sandwhiches(LuLu B's) to very obscure and very delicious tacos(Torchy's Tacos) and of course pizza. All outdoors, all cheap, and positively no reservations...

However, if it is 105 degrees out and air conditioning is more condusive to the sweat glands there are still plently of choices. Greek cusine in downtown (Athenian Grill), Burgers (Huts, Waterloo, Counter Cafe). If you're in the mood for NY Deli eatin' Katz's Deli is open 24hrs. And of course their's the Whole Foods world headquarters that can fufill any of your eating needs/ desires in an all organic fashion. And last but not least there's the BBQ!!! Stubbs, Salt Lick, Iron Works, just to name a few... but the really good stuff is just outside of the city... Wink

Oh... and there's also some of the best Mexican food here either side of the border. Couldn't even start to rattle off the taco trailers and restruants that are literally on almost every block.

Just come to Austin. Great food. Great music. Always something to do. Check it out if you havent already Tony, you wont be dissapointed!
