Yesterday I spotted TB and his crew at one of my favorite durum dives in Istanbul. I guess Mr. Bourdain is not fasting for Ramadan this year.
I think you could pack a lot in on Hocapasa street in Sirkeci. There you've got just about every Turkish lunch specialty. Below is a link to a place on that street for Iskender kebab, but I would not overlook the place for cag kebab (something like churrasco) at the start of the street. You can't miss the horizontal spit. http://istanbuleats.com/2009/0...e-for-doner-fatigue/ I would also like to know what you think of the Turkey's favorite pudding made with chicken breast. Ozkonak in Cihangir is an old school pudding shop with one of the better tavuk gogusu pudding. http://istanbuleats.com/2009/0...e-real-pudding-shop/ I can't wait to see the results of your visit to Istanbul. Certainly a good town for grubbing if you are willing to roll up your sleeves. Unfortunately good local spots don't get much attention. |
