Commercials on tv and advertisments else where suggest that philly is filled with tough guy like persona people. THat the only food that we can produce well are cheese steaks and soft pretzels. I get it were the underdogs in everything. From sports ( not happy about vick by the way) to the culinary underbelly.

Sad thing is philadelphia has alot more to offer then the creepy benjamen franklin look alike and utter stench of the schukel.

There are awesome mom and pop shops filled with delectable cheese's ( dibruno bros) Chocolate places( Naked Chocolate). Cant forget about Steve Starr and his restaurants ( Pod, Parc, Alma De Cuba, Barclay prime) just to name a few. George Perreir for christ sake. Mans 5 ft 2 and kicks people in the shin for cooking rabbit wrong! Le bec fin was one of the countries finest french dining places, but george decided to give up his stars because of the economy.

then of course you have the one question that is on every tourists mind ( Is Geno's better then Pats) or ( Is Pats better then Geno's). The two cheese steak giants have been going head to head in competition every since the late 80's. Every single time I head down to south philly there are lines that never end.

Personally Im a Pat's Girl and for that hour long wait in the hot summer sun is worth it. To get this sopping grease meat filled sandwhich smothered with onions and cheese whiz and shove the entire thing in your mouth is orgasmic.

Last but not least cannot forget about Caprigo.
Caprigo is a coffee and Gelato cafe. They serve the BEST gelato EVER! They have flavors like avacado, macademia nut, toffee, mint julip, hazelnut. List of flavors go on and on.
