Things to do/eat in Amsterdam:
-Heineken and Amstel factory and beer-tasting.
-The consumption of salted herring from street vendors (from late May to early July).
-Dutch pea soup: a hearty concoction of thick pea porridge, pork, fatback and sausage.
-Dutch pancakes: a heartier type of crepe with fillings like crispy bacon and syrup, among others.
-Jenever drinking with Bitter-ballen (veal stock reduced to balls of jelly then breaded and deep fried, served with mustard on the side).Jenever is a liquor that only makes sense when you take into account the sailor/farmer heritage of the dutch. You'll see.
-Space cakes and "special" chocolate bonbons at a coffeeshop called Chocolat.
-Rabbit stew.
-Market eats, such as smoked eel, dutch cheeses, fresh cold cuts, licorice, fried fish and other seafoods.
-Explore the Dutch obsession with Indonesian food (they had colonies there and took the cuisine home with them, with some changes).
-Snack bar food, served with beer: veal croquettes, pikanto rolls, smulrolls, frikandel and many other small food sold by vendors late into the night.
Come to Amsterdam. DO IT NOW!
