Tony should definately go to Poland for several reasons. First and foremost, Poland is "unknown territory" in the culinary world yet offers some of the most fantastic European style food gastronomic experiences. The restaurants, especially the fine restaurants serve a lot of game meat and present it in ways that seems more French than "meat and potatoes Polish". Sauces are fine and delicate, vegtable dishes abound, service is impeccable and the price is shockingly low. Krakow is the culinary capital of Poland with fantastic restaurants and cafes. Poland also have contrasts to fine dinings such as Milk bars which were established in Poland during the cold war and exist today. They are very basic cafeteria style cafes which serve tons of typical Polish food such as pork cutlets, mashed potatoes, soups, salads, etc for very low prices, even for Polish standards. The food is fantastic at most of these milk bars and it tastes as if your Polish grandmother made it herself. Moreover, these milk bars make you feel as if you are in a bit of a time warp due to the period they were built in.
I think Tony could at least check out the possibilities in doing a show in Poland, which I believe is crucial to do it soon rather than later because Poland is just being discovered by the ' Western World', is inexpensive, charming and romantic, has severe contrasts between cities and rural areas, and has really fanastic food, fantastic restaurants, and cafes. I, a Polish- American, am moving to Krakow in late-Feb 2007 and would be more than willing to offer any advice to the show. Please consider Poland!
