I think Anthony Bourdain should come visit Westminster, CA aka. Little Saigon. I know that he loves Vietnam and Vietnamese food, and one can find some of the best Vietnamese food in Little Saigon. Of course... if he were to come out here, then he should stop by my mom's house, also in Westminster, to experience some of the best pho, bun bo hue, banh xeo, and other Vietnamese dishes outside of Vietnam!

I absolutely agree. Anthony Bourdain has uncovered a country that is usually overlooked. It's no surprise that the delicious food he loves in Vietnam are also found in Westminster, CA. Here, Bourdain will find quality food in small strip mall restaurants as well as in my mother's kitchen. Come visit!

I vote for Little Saigon. I'm a real Orangetang from Huntington Beach and now that I'm in Phoenix this is one place I miss. Tony should go to Westminster, have some coffee or whatever drink he likes in a Vietnamese coffee shop, eat 8 courses of fish, go have a bowl of Pho, have some of the best french bread on the planet, and should time it for the Tet New Year celebration. I think that he could have some interesting conversations with some of the locals there about their experiences getting to Orange County and creating this new beautiful place from what was not originally that nice a section of town when I was a little kid. I have many Vietnamese friends who have helped me keep finding new and interesting nooks and corners in this town so I'm sure he wouldn't have much trouble finding a fixer who could do the same for him.

Oh I forgot. He should also visit one of the local Vietnamese Supermarkets in Westminster and check out the fish section. Excellent quality fish, another thing not found easily out here in Phoenix. Not sure he would like Boba but the little shops that make it are very creative and he might like to try a sugarcane drink right out of the cane press.

Many years ago, I had the fortunate experience to have one of my Vietnamese customers take me to lunch several times in Westminster. I'm a huge duck fan and those dishes were really excellent along with everything else we ordered. Besides, I'm very partial to Vietnamese coffee, one of life's great delights.
Can any of you recommend good restaurants in that area? The one I used to go to has really gone down in quality over the years and I don't spend enough time there to find replacements on my own. I'm sure you all have your favorites.
Thanks in advance! (Steve in San Diego)

Funny to see this here! I live 'next door' in Garden Grove. Little Saigon truly is a world of its own. And I agree... the Vietnamese Supermarkets and their fish section is quite interesting.
