Hello Anthony Smile

I just wanted to say hello and let you know that my boyfriend, Joseph, truly admires you. He’s read your book Kitchen Confidential (um 3 times), bought 2 more and gave them as gifts. We watch your show when he not cooking himself - at Chez Nora’s in Covington, Kentucky. (If you ever make it over here, you should check out the view from the roof top there and see Cincinnati’s lights at night. It’s amazing Smile

So do you know what Goetta is? (Pronounced getta like getta grip - you could have some fun with that). Have you ever had it? I ask because on you show the other night (Thailand?) where you had the "skin flick" - the look on your face when he said they would come back and take the pork - was priceless! (sorry haha)

So have you been to Covington, Kentucky? I know... just what the hell is in Kentucky? (That’s all I heard when I left Oregon and drove across the US to Kentucky with Joseph). What a lot of people don't realize is that this is a Tri-State area and absolutely FULL of life and things to do to help you enjoy life. Not too far away is King's Island too - Home to a few of the top roller coasters in the world and some great water slides.

First there are some fabulously NICE people! It’s also the home of Izzy’s - NO NOT PIZZA - Corned beef sandwiches. They’ve been open for more than 100 years!! I had my first one today. They even slice the beef for your sandwich after they take your order. On the Main Strauss, there are bars. You could try to start at one end and work your way down, around, and back up... you could try to have a beer in each establishment... but you better fill your stomach up!! They call it the pub crawl. lol Of course there is much more than just great pub food and specialty restaurants like Chez Nora’s (Joseph does most of the banquets there now - come as you are and have excellent food), Dee Feelice (dress nice for this one), Straus Haus, and Cock & Bull (these are nice pubs and usually have live music)... Over at the levee in Newport, they have a GREAT bangers and mash at the local Irish Pub there!! (Rosemary is wonderful). Plus, Covington is located just a mere bridge walk away from Cincinnati. And this is where all your options to trying food open up even more! (They love their Reds (bleacher seats for $7 bucks and their Bengals - did you see OchoCinco kick??).

This area is the origin of Goetta. They even have festivals JUST for Goetta. (link to wiki below). I won’t tell you what’s in it... to save your time in case you already know. But since you LOVE pork, you should try Goetta. It’s very unique and depending on the texture you like - it must be cooked that way. I had it once where it was (for lack of terms) smooshy. I did not like that. I like it fried up crisp Smile Tasty. They cook it any way that they can here... and you can only get it here. Plus you can ride up and down the Ohio River on a paddle boat or a cigar boat and have dinner and drinks, OR stop off at one of the bars located ON the river...

I've only lived here a few months but already know that I am finally home Smile This area would be a FABULOUS place to come visit because there are sooooo many options to the type of food you can get. People here are really nice and pleasant - that southern hospitality kicking in Smile There are so many options of things, places, and people to see here. I am positive that with the right guides and selections, you would have a great time, have some GREAT food - and maybe try something you have never had... now isn't that nice and local? Smile

I truly enjoy your show, love the name and how you describe things - and your honesty/bluntness without snubbing people.

Have a great day!!

Yes Goetta Has been produced in this area by Gliers Goetta In Covington Ky. It is A mixture of pin oats pork and seasonings, and i must say it is good. But there are alot of other great tastes in this area such as; Pompilios itallian restaurant ( rain man toothpick scene filmed here, and they have a 3 court bocci park in back. York st Cafe always offers an amazing seasonal menu, Chili is also a local pissing contest, With skyline chili being the best known. Oh yes and if you like pork this area is prime porkopolis for you. we even have flying pig statues all over the area, pork production in this area was a key element from which the mony came from to fuel the local economy. It is hard to tell about all the local cuisine due to it's incredible diversity and magnitude of choices. Octoberfest is coming too. and one of the nations largest fireworks displays is coming on September 6th the WEBN fireworks, simulcast to music from the local radio station.
If you do not do a show here at least take the time to check it out when you can.
Thank you for an incredible show.
