Mr. Bourdain, Image finding a volcanic island with black sand beaches, fresh water caves, hand crafted fishing boats, the freshest fish, alcohol, non-stop food and arguably the kindest people on earth. I visited the Cape Verde Islands three years ago not know what to expect. What I found was a third world country with more to offer then I have found in my 27 years in NYC. Cape Verde is a free republic, once colonized by the Portuguese. It's culture is a fusion of both Portugal and West African nations. I arrived their knowing only my cousin, who flew in from Holland to meet me. It took about a day to meet everyone in my families home town. The people are welcoming, caring and giving. Most importantly they know how to have a good time. The country is made up of a group of ten islands, each with its own unique qualities and attractions to offer. You want to get outdoors and move around freely among the locals stay in Santo Antoa in a hotel or Bed & Breakfast. St. Vincent is where everyone goes for the parties, Sal and Boa Vista are the tourist Islands. Lots of Resorts there, but you want the real deal Santo Antoa is where its at. Bourdain go to Cape Verde and enjoy fresh lobsters, great parties and the company of beautiful women.
