It's not your typical Caribbean vacation destination (which is good) and the food is fantastic. The influence and mix of Indian, Chinese, Spanish & African tastes along with the tropical ingredients makes for some great flavors. I used to live there, and luckily am now in Brooklyn so still can get some Trini food, but when I move to Australia soon, I'm going to go through major withdrawl.
The best Chinese of my life was in Trinidad. Also love: veggie roti, pelau, buljol, curry crab & dumpling, macaroni pie, pastelles, shark & bake, aloo pie, doubles, tamarind balls, benne balls, sour prunes, sorrel... yum my mouth is watering!
