Most people think Okinawans are Japanese but, they are not. True, Okinawa is a Prefecture of Japan but, not by choice! The Okinawans have thier very own distinct culture, Language, and customs. You must go off the beaten (tourist) path to find it. Pork is a very popular food item to the Okinawans. They "eat everything except the oink". Please do an episode on Okinawa.

Oh, good heavens, did I forget to mention the native Okinawan liquor called Awamori? the best of it is aged 30 years and goes down so smooth, like butter! But, it can be 86 proof.

I love Okinawa! I was just there last year and I want to go back next year. I've been to Germany and France and all over the Eastern United States, but Okinawa was and is my favorite trip and place to be. Kokousai-dori is basically like the strip of Naha City, there are restaurants and stores all up and down that mile and a half of road. Not to mention to maze of Hewai-dori which is basically a huge farmers market that goes on every day in patch work of covered alleyways and streets. In short, GO TO OKINAWA!!!
