My father is from Guatemala and I have had the opportunity to visit this small country twice. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!! So much to see, so much to do. Food is great, different, and plentiful. You must go to Tikal - the largest ancient Mayan Civilization; Antigua is also a must; while you are at it... climb one of the 13 volcanos (and yes, some are active!) Oh, and if you really want to see something totally unique, visit the country during Holy/Easter Week. Whether you are religous or not, it is a specticle so overwhelmingly beautiful and inspring. The people are warm and friendly. I can definitely see you walking around the capital or the villages.
