I would love to propose a new show. I am tired of watching all of these famous people traveling around to the most expensive resorts in every location and showing me resorts I could never afford. What I would like to see is something that would be helpful to the average person. I am proposing a show called "It's All Inclusive" hosted by me, an average 40 year old guy. I would travel to all inclusive resorts in Mexico, the Carribean etc. and compare them. Letting people know what the real difference is between a resort that costs $900 a person vs. one that costs $1,800 a person for example. I want to review resorts that the Average Joe can afford and explain to people the difference between them. I have alwsy thought this was a niche your station missed out on in its format.

Check out www.Robinbenzle.com. She is like an Anthony Bordain without the swearing or the Zimmer-guy with not-so-weird but a bit odd food takes. Her Ecuador videos - food and travel - are really fun and funny. I just "discovered" her and thought you might also!

Unfortunately due to the economy and my husband is currently not working. We had to cancel our cable! So no more cable for awhile and that means not being able to watch the Travel channel on television. Which is now why I am on line. Before we cut off our cable, I enjoyed watching Anthony Bourdain. I have a copy of his book, acutally two copies. My husband bought one for me not knowing I bought one earlier. I like Samantha Brown's weekend destinations. Andrew Zimmerman was interesting, yet I am a chicken when trying new foods, especially fresh food that wiggles! I had not had a chance to watch Bridget or Dhani Travels the Globe. Anyway, I think you have good shows and since I've traveled in the past I enjoy watching those shows. As soon as we can afford it, we'll get our cable back on.

maybe you should be suggesting that TC streams their shows like so many other networks. I watch more programs online now than on the tube.

Have 2 different weekly shows - one for people who love urban vacations and one for people who love the outdoors.

Topics waiting to see:
1. volunteer vacations
2. from Potterfield's backpacking book "Classic hikes of the world."
3. best day hikes on each continent
4. world street markets
5. best hostels
6. 1/2-hour on each US atate, with the top things to see and do.
7. a series that talks about each and every US national park
8. Jan 1 - festivals around the world in Feb; Feb 1 - festivals around the world in Narch; Mar - festivals around the world in April, etc.

Smag had a good idea a few posts back. Have a show that is a spinoff from the Werner book, "Where there is no doctor."

Maybe Red Cross wants 1/2-hr every week to let us know where they need volunteers.

Give us a show on the United Nations so we know where exactly they are in the world and what the heck they do with all our money.

Give the travel/tour companies that ranked high on national geographic or Condé Nast Traveler 1/2-hr each day to talk about their favorite tours. Do a different company every day; can't have the same company for one year. Call it an infomercialtour.

last comments for the day.

Give a half an hour once a week or an hour once a month to Travelzoo or Kayak or airfarewatchdog or lastminutetravel and they tell viewers current deals. Yes, we can just go online, but some of us are lazy.

Wow ideaman420@live.com. You should work for TC. He has put a lot of thought into many great ideas. Kudos ideaman. A recap of his looooong paragraphs:

• ConScience American - traveling to places and being a tourist has a dual impact on the society and economy.
• Outsourced - farms and plantations throughout the globe and looks at the people who and places where our food comes from.
• Dangerous Destinations - just what it sounds like. E.g., Somalia and Iran.
• Travel Advisory - News magazine style 30 minute episodes about travel advisories and things people should know before they go.
• Travel Channel's Nightly News - a news show with total emphasis on various destinations. Thailand has a coup every 5 years. Hurricanes and world weather reports and alerts.
• Horror Stories - Travel version of 'I shouldn’t Be Alive'. Peoples real stories about getting locked up in Mexico and losing a kidney in Thailand. From that extreme to losing your bags on your honeymoon and how having no clothes made it the best honeymoon you could imagine; cab drivers trying to rip you off in Cambodia and winding up in an argument on the busy streets of Siem Reap.
• Sick of Home – from Lonely Planet
• One for the Road - brothers hosting a show AKA Tripping Buds.
• Celebrity Outreach - already posted this basic concept under Celeb Third World Pity Party Or the Lifestyle of the Rich and Guilty.
• Fantastic Festivals of the World - I still want to see more Mass Games & Day of the Dead. Running of the bulls. Need content about Accommodations, Transportation, and the PRICES. It’s about selling the dream.
• Say Cheese! - Cheese is just as valid subject matter as sports. Every agrarian society has and does make cheese. Most European cheese's are named after the towns they’re from…There are also cool cheese destinations besides factories and farms…There is also gross cheese things like the maggots in Pecorino Sardinia or Limbburger.
• Recreation Nation - RVing show that's been suggested a hundred times now.
• Jesus on the 101 - Tour of mega churches and their crazy congregations….I could watch hours of Scientology material…People speaking in tongues are very hilarious and more shocking than what’s on now.
• Contest Winners - a weekly contest and as a condition of winning the trip will be filmed. This would be a nice "thank you" to the sponsor on the contest as well. It helps pay for them, involves more viewers. Gives more people a hope of winning.
• HIGH Definition - A mix between Tripping Buds and the best visually spectacular places on earth….great wall, Angkor, Petra, Galapagos, Machu Pichu, etc. A lot of the same places but with a strong emphasis on stunning HD cinematography. But like the name implies, the host uses his increased visual acuteness to highlight the beauty that is surrounding him.
• Party Planet
• Helping God - Similar to Celebrity Outreach…each week is a different co-host who helps those who need help….No dogmas or religions… something inspirational and uplifting. Seeing others act responsibly is going to be contagious.
• Reenactors or BattleField - e.g., The Bulge, Waterloo, Trenches, Suez Canal, Six day-Yom Kippur, Falklands
• Revolutionary Places - Founding Fathers places and events.

I was thinking and planing my complimentary, and imaginary trip to TCacademy, when it him me.

GOOGLED EARTH I start with thinking about the place I want to go and start looking at the street view mixed with user submitted photo's. Google the other places i might want to go. Basically doing the research. I was picturing a voice over host guided adventure using the internet. I think as such a brand solidifier, Google might do it for free. Showing street view pictures in rapid sequence sounds cool. Its almost like a animation or some sort. I I'm not sure how the technical aspect of showing internet pages and street view? I know its possible. This might be a half hour show on cities. Its destinations, accommodations, transportations, and entertainment. Still can air videos in any "gui box" or pop-up window" or "dropdown." It's an endless information resource. People use "this series of tubes" alot for travel resources and possibilities. This is start of the eventual melding of these to mediums. If it looks as clean as my computer does in HD, this would be amazing looking as well. I want a 22 minute advertisement for chevy chase and the rest of DC. Why is it called chevy chase? I'm gonna google it right now!

So I want to stay at the Embassy Suites there. Go for a walk in won of more historic looking streets. Go to some monuments. I want a 22 minute advertisement for chevy chase and the rest of DC. Why is it called chevy chase? I'm gonna google it right now. There was a Lord Baltimore!! LOL, i didn't know that. If I could go on a tangent about Lord Baltimore in the show if I wanted. Maybe see if he has a house I can visit? I think i've got to look at this statue in front of the court house in Google Earth. And on we go on our trip. Unfortunately, my 3yo Dell laptop is really not up to the challenge. This show is the best idea of had. I wish i can't articulate the visual concept more. I can see it in my mind. Its almost like "How its Made," but travel based and using internet page snapshots to create video. I would bet is a macromedia presentation with a narrator. Needs a good writer probably. You would want to take some time a mark it good. Edit and re-edit. Best show idea ever!!

STEWARDESS' ------------- Hot International Flight Attendants and their fun fantastic voyages. Where do they stay? what do they eat? how do they unwind? Pretty people doing fun things. Delta, American, United--sponsors and flight crew fixers. If you were United and this show came on the air with a different Air-Carrier, what would you think? It's half reality, half fantasy. Real people doing fantastical things. This would be the show I want a Bridget Marquardt for. Party time with Air Crew 69!! Maybe its 5 takes but from the flight crew's perspective? A little of the old and new. 3 or 4 takes. single and married of both genders? Captian could be a young bachelor laying asian girls every weekend. I was thinking 'Girls Only' for Stewardess' but a cool captain could work too.

CRUISING COUGARS---------- 2 hot cougars traveling and having younger guys aboard a Royal Caribbean Cruiseline. Sweet and gentle cougars, not over the top Ligers. I love hot fun cougars. Who's the cougar at your office?

PARTY U--------------Mixing this college campus show that's been suggested a hundred times with my Party Planet. Boulder. San Diego, Fort Lewis, UCLA where ever.

Voyage of the Mimi.... I can't remember if this was mayan or incan but it doesn't matter. Its more travel related than ManvFood. Hope it Mayan. I can't get enough doomsday!! 2012, wooo

Next day..........

I was writing this at the same time as Sony! posted one minute later. What would be the chances of that? Thinking about my "flux capacitor" show while this other person is summarizing and reading my loooooong paragraphs. What do you "Sonybalony" think of Googled Earth?

Nice summary, thank you. I liked your ideas as well. I wish they weren't so long too. Writing is my worst skill. Its not as easy as driving a golf ball straight for 250Y everytime.

You should summary the other ideas under the screen names "claudebaggers" and "succermom." My person favorite idea is Extreme Texas Hold-Em. Best Show Ever. LOL

Your summary of Re-Enactors misses the entire travel premise and other BASIC concepts that the TC people are missing currently. That's why sooo looong winded. The real job is convincing them that WE are not retarded. You actually read those posts, few others have. You though, assume TRAVEL related content in your ideas. I don't think the "suite's" get that. Or rather, they think we no longer want that.

One for the Road is a pilot I saw on a Production Company website. All they have to do IS BUY IT!!!! It's not one of my ideas.
link http://www.televersemedia.com/...y_onefortheroad.html This is an old show idea I think. This company has a new show coming out about Competitive Ocean Fishing. It's called Throwdown Fishing on The Travel Channel. If you look at that forums feedback or that show, you would see how great to 'production value' of this company was. TC doesn't make shows, they buy shows. I would have bought this show over fishing. Neither are that great though. Road Tripping, Tripping Buds, and Weeds around the World are all much better shows that this stupid premise on "One for the Road" or "5 Takes" which used to be on the air.

Competive Sport Fishin' ---------- Capt. Matty Tambor challenges local sport fishing captains from around the globe. Suspensful and octane pumped show. Cool styling as well. "Take it and run with it!" see what Happens @ http://www.travelchannel.com/V...lineupId=14999242001 Specifics do matter. Minute stupidity apparently matters. You have to say "Show Hotel" Bimimi, mention "Atlantis Rocks" It's just fishing. Fishing?
Gone Fishin....

I like #9 on Gudoy's destination list. This gudoy want to see 10 Different Samantha Browns traveling. Huh. Doesn't like the hypocritical nature of food programing either.

College Cuisine?? Have a host "young college student" visit colleges all over the nation. They are in search for cheap eats to satisfy some hungry students.

College students don't have money to spend, and they are always in search of a good, and cheap meal. What better way to do this through a college near them, hosted by someone that can relate to them

Well, since my first post was scratched due to my apparent use of a banned word, I will attempt to again express my frustration with a TV channel that started out with the right idea but quickly succumbed to the banalities of TV culture. For instance:

What does World Poker Tour have to do with travel? Why does the Travel Channel show this every week, ad nauseum? When will they stop and allow an ESPN channel to show it and get on with Travel?

Why did the Travel Channel decide to start showing the Bridget show, which really belongs on the E channel, since it is nothing more than a T and A show that flounces sex around as if travel is nothing more than the search for the next best topless beach?

Why, given all multitude of different places there are in the world today, the only shows that actually go to these places are based on food...ie the Anthony Bourdain show, and the Bizarre Foods show? Rarely are any real travel shows aired on the Travel Channel. Instead, we get pap like Man versus Food, where an apparently brainless idiot tries to force down his stomach in one sitting the amount of food that would feed a poor family in a third world country for a day. It is gross, insulting, and stupid.

Occasionally the Travel Channel comes through with good, even high quality, travel shows. Let's have more of them and less of the "More of Disney World than you ever wanted to see" shows, and less of the "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" type shows, which could be left to the People Magazine channels like the E channel.

Come on Travel Channel. There are so many places in the world Americans are not aware of. Thousands of documentaries already exists of these places. Let's see some shows that show us the real world, not the inside of a Las Vegas casino or a Disney hotel or resort we have already seen so many times we will likely hurl if we are forced to view it again. Time for Mickey to sit back and watch something educational for awhile, instead of Babes on the Beach.

Well, now that I have some of what I find wrong with the Travel Channel off my chest, here's some ideas for new shows:

1. National Parks of Costa Rica. There's a lot of them, and you could spend a whole season visiting them and the tourist hotels and resturants around each one.

2. Central America Beaches and Islands. Visit the islands off the coasts of Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Belize. If you do it right, this could be another season show.

3. The Andes. Start from the Sierra Nevada in Columbia and travel all the way to Tierra Del Fuego. Good for at least one seaon, maybe more.

4. Cities of South America. Visit the major cities of South America, and report on tourist facilities, beaches, resturants, and local attractions.

5. The Amazon. Travel down the Amazon, reporting on everything from wildlife to the people and places along the way. Have your reporters be a young couple that journey to the first navigable part of the river and buy a boat to travel all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.

6. The Mekong River and Its Temples. Visit the people, the cities, and the temples along the Mekong.

7. Sri Lanka and Its Gems.

8. The Ganges River, from the headwaters to the Bay of Bengal.

9. Little Known Places of the the World: The Kamchatka Penisula, the eastern Himalayas between China and India, Burma, the Philiphine out islands.

10. The unvisited Caribbean. The islands of the Caribbean that are still unspoiled by cruise ships and mass tourism.

11. The little know parks of the US, the ones that all the other shows pass by. How about Mt. Washington, Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas, the Black Hills, the Bighorn Mountains, and so on.

12. Volcanos of the US.

13. Volcanos of the Americas....from Mexico to Chile.

14. The Marquesas Islands.

15. The Atomic Bomb Islands of the South Pacific

16. South Georgia Islands

17. Georgia and the Black Sea Republics

18. Japan Today.

19. Korea Today.

20. Traveling in Japan today. How to do it, how to get past the typical tourist destinations and out to the hinderlands, Hokkaido, and the out islands.

21. Vietnam today.

22. Singapore and the Straits.

23. Borneo.

24. The Red Sea

25. Africa. Country by Country. People by people. Mountains. Wildlife.

If you can't take a hint, then maybe you should hire a new program director.

Think: TRAVEL CHANNEL

Answer this: Why do you have so many non-travel shows on the TRAVEL CHANNEL? Why can't you turn yourself into a premium travel channel that actually shows Americans what the rest of the world is about, instead of the canned pap reality shows you have abased yourself with these days?

Please, Bridget was the last straw. I'm telling Anthony that he should be ashamed to have his show on the same channel as Bridget. There's a limit to common decency, and you have gone over it with Bridget. Between her, the poker shows, and the food shows that really belong on the Food Network, you are debasing yourself. Look at your schedule. How much is really travel, and how much is about the same destinations you cover over and over again until us viewers just change the channel in disgust?

99% of the people responding to this post appear unhappy with TC.

PBS recently did a documentary “In the Footsteps of Marco Polo” where 2 men retrace Marco Polo’s entire 25000-mile trip. It was excellent. A few years back there was another TV series called “Long Way Round” that documented a 19,000-mile motorcycle journey by two men traveling horizontally around the world (from London eastwards through Europe and Asia, flew to Alaska and continued by road to New York.) These 2 shows were excellent shows about travel. Unfortunately it’s doubtful shows like this will be on TC because the former shows were not selling hotels, casinos, cruises or food.

Gold Indian Casino's---- Show about casino's on Reservations. All the small Foxwoods out there. Some reservations have other really cool stuff on them too! Travel, Culture, Casino.

Traveling Toddlers, ----Some kids show....Have Tom Kinney actually be the host!! Just him going around having fun and being 'whacky.' Something for children and their parents to watch together. I don't have kids so I'm not the best at kid show? Tom Kinney is genius, you should get him, not bridget or dhani. Put something interesting on before 9am.

Embassy Suite Life w/ Zack & Cody..... Same kids from the other show. Send them on a prolonged vacation, they stay in suites and get into mischief. Boys being Boys. As a larger boy, I empathize with this. Wife doesn't let me engage in HIGH-jinks no more!

I could find anything on TC, but wow... Jon & Kate plus 8--I see why TLC has sold out and sells nothing else.

http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/ratings/cable.html

If your gonna sell it out. Do it the smart way. Even I like sponge bob, cause of Kinney! I first saw him on Mr. Show with Bob & dave.

I also enjoyed the Marco Polo program. It was educational and intriguing. "If you build it, They will come." TC knows they need to focus back to travel. It takes a little time. This new "Travel Bug" STD that i got from either Dhani or Bridget is the right advertising track.

You concentrate too juch on food. I think you want to be the "Food Channel #2" instead of the travel channel. Show us the travel to and from these locations but don't concentrate on the food. I don't care to see a guy eat a 5# hamburger, or bugs, of travel all over just to concentrate on food preperation. I want to see what's in between fork fulls.
Thanks

I would like to explore different culinary experiences, from an attractive womans' point of view.
Enough males travelling around, you guys!
Give me a chance at this, please.
I promise you and your viewers will be pleasantly surprised with a woman out-experiencing the boys.
I'm not a 'professional' chef. I'm a damn good chef, nevertheless.
And I have the face, personality and love for different foods, that will be a refreshing new TV experience.
Stay open-minded and really explore the great possibilities of having the best of your best, embodied in a woman in search of the ultimate eating experiences.
