I have a large collection of rocks and minerals, some of which are museum quality. These were passed on to me by my dad. He collected them throughout his childhood on the trips he took cross country from North Carolina to California. I don't know a lot about the specific names of the specimens and would love to know the values and names of them. I live in the middle of North Carolina, where can I take them to learn more about what they are and what they are worth. There are several hundreds of pounds of them varying from a few ounces to several pounds each specimen. Please help!

Try finding a local Rock & Mineral club or rock shop in your area on the internet or in your phone book.

Keep in mind if you sell to a dealer more than likely you would get about 1/3 to 1/2 the actual value since they need to resell it at a profit.

Visit your local library for books on rocks & minerals, it's pretty easy to identify rocks & minerals once you get the hang of it, especially when it comes to the quartz, agate & jasper materials.
