Hello Dori,
Been there, done that. Red Face)
1) Get complete insurance. Doing one state every day and a half, you WILL break down.
2) I would slow down and not cover so much ground. With all that driving, will you have time for prospecting, digging, fossicking, rockhounding & treasure hunting?
3) Make friends, ask questions and stop in at all rock / lapidary stores. They often know local sites.
4) Most important; join your local club NOW. Before you go. That's the way to learn of sponsored trips in all the clubs they are affiliated with. Success (and safety) are most likely when you go with people who know more than you.
Best wishes,
-Rocky.
PS I have loved that name ever since I took my kids to see "Nemo".

Good Morning Rocky,

Glad you like my name! I have had it for 39+3 years, I dont use the F word, LOL .My Hubby is Fourty something though, lol ..
We are hitting Penn. first and the Blue Ridge Mountains, then just driving. Hubby is using the tool box from the show. However if you have any information to make our trip more exciting, please share? We are going with our 25 yr old son and his girlfriend. I have lived all over the United States, and I love meeting new people and making friendships! We are all so excited about the trip! We thought 5 weeks would be enough time to cover alot of ground, but will extend if needed. We are coming off of a four year nightmare. I have had two surgeries and my Mom was diagnosed with Lung cancer Aug, 07 and left us here in my home on Sept 22nd , 08. So we need some distance from CT at this point. We are renting an RV for the trip, for comfort and ease of traveling. Thanks so much for the reply! I will be doing alot of video and photos, will post as we search ! Have a wonderful weekend !!

Take Care
Dori

P.S Stop following me !! lol, a little Nemo fun !!!

Hi Dori, that sounds like a great trip, I am so jealous. I hope you have a safe and very successful trip. Lots of digs and rockin' means lots of fun. lol

My condolences to you and your family for your loss. Then on top of that the surgeries and all. It has been a tough go for sure. This should be great therapy.

There is some more information that may help you plan you trip on the Treasure Hunting Wiki on the National Directory. Each state is listed with additional digs sites that are in addition to the Cash and Treasures website. There is also a ton of other info there are well. Hopefully this may aid in your trip planning. Here is the link: http://cash-and-treasures-wiki...e/National+Directory

Have a great trip and I look forward to seeing your trip report and pics. What a blast!
