Only five new shows. Tonight was a rerun and so are the next two. What gives?

There has been a change this season. Instead of a dozen half-hour shows, there are 5 one-hour programs. So until the next season begins they are showing reruns, including the first season with Becky.

Last season had what, 28 half hour shows. This year there were 5 one hour shows. This season also seemed to be more about the phyical challenge than actual treasure hunting. I bet if she wanted to do a show about food she of gotten more time. The Travel Channel is the new Food Network

There WILL be fewer shows, but it looks like there won't be any of the quick & easy "buy a bucket and walk to the flume" shows. I think the producers (and Kirsten) are responding to posts here requesting more exotic, out of the way locations. I know the seaglass episode was suggested on this forum, and that was a 'treasure' I would never have thought of looking for. Of course, that kind of show requires more prep time, research time, travel time, negotiations with claim or land owners, more money, and more man-hours but no more bodies to do the work. It's a trade off.
A network TV season is usually 13 weeks (13 episodes plus maybe a season opener). I suspect that the 28 episodes listed in the season 2 archives are actually part of a six-month season (26 weeks). At least I don't recall them doing 2 new episodes each week all last season.
Unless I'm mistaken (and I usually am), we will see 10 half-hour features every 13 weeks instead of 28 every 26 weeks.
Fewer episodes, but IMHO they are better shows.
