just happen to stumble on this forum while looking in the TC website. I have plans to go to Paris and Barcelona nest summer. Has anyone have any idea which is cheaper to go via air or rail from Paris to Barcelona? Also in Barcelona what are some excursions outside of Barcelona for a day?

In regards to your question - nowadays with all the low-cost carriers, it is just as cheap to go Paris-BCN by air. And, A LOT faster. It is beautiful to take the train... but it will take all night. The new bullet train from Paris to Barcelona wont be open for another year or two. The airlines EASYJET and VUELING are the best options. Look up their websites and buy your tickets early for tix as low as 20 euros.

Day trips from BCN could include the mountain monastery of Montserrat, the coastal village of Sitges, the ancient Catalan village of Ripoll, and if you have two or three days, I HIGHLY recommend the coastal village of Cadaques where Dali and Picasso lived.
