I was really excited when I found out Bridget was hosting this show- reminded me of the new Brook Burke- Wild on E but sadly she's no Brook Burke. I main problem with the show is that Bridget needs to be a bit more open to trying new things such as the food from these exotic places. It just reminds me of a girl from California who's never traveled out of the US before and experience new things for the first time, but if this is the intent of the show then you've nailed it. Also, her being "adventurous" is not really shining through.
I completely agree with you. It seems very close minded and even somewhat disrespectful when she is so squeamish about trying foods like prawns and escargot which are not strange or gross at all. It's not like they were live cobra hearts or pig brains or something that would be on Bizarre Foods, that would be understandble. Part of experiencing a culture is eating the food.
That being said, I think the show is fun to watch but needs improvement because it can get annoying at times. Bridget is beautiful and sexy and I think her wardrobe is great. But she needs to say something different besides "Oh my god, it's soo beautiful!" or "It's soo nice!" all the time because she says that in every show and it gives people the impression she is not very smart even though that might not be the case. Part is this is the Travel Channel's problem too, they need to give her more in-depth scripts or write the show differently.
I'm glad to see that others are notecing how rude it is to not try the food from other contrys, Travel Channel made a mistake by picking such narrow minded and lack of culture bubbly girl, Bridget is too superficial for a potentialy great show, I can take her place!!
It is hard to say that I am at my computer and the show is on in another room and I can tell exactly what is going on. Just like all the other shows, screams, pinting, more screams, "yes I am a bit nervous." and more screams, swimimg, trying food, more swimming, flying, more screams, eating, more screams...blah,.blah, blah. Same things, different beaches. They are wearing the topic out! Is there any creativity? I love the information, but it is getting boring. Sad to say b/c I like Bridget. Sigh.
Great show tonight. The Hawaii episode had it all and it was fun for all ages. This was tasteful, yet very sexy in all the right ways.
Bridget, your enthusiasm, laugh and sense of playfulness are stunning and they make this show a treat to watch. You hit a grand slam homerun tonight, in my opinion. A+.
THE SHOW IS ABOUT BEACHES, NOT FOOD. Bridget was not hired to eat-she was hired to show off the beaches. Get over your narrow-minded visions of what travel shows are supposed to be about! The haters need to just change the channel.
I like the show but it's very ironic that they chose someone who doesn't eat fish to host a show where all the locations will be around water. It definitely detracts from the show.
To those people that say the show is about beaches, not food - why do you think they always have food in the show? People that travel want to know about the local cuisine as much as the sites. Food is an important part of traveling. Having a host that eats like a four year old certainly hurts this show.
In the opening sequence (part of the opening sequence around 0:38) and on the website banner, Stephen is wearing too much eyeliner but mostly on one eye (or someone was "masterbating" during post production and got a little heavy handed with the video editing and then didn't notice the one-eyed Emo tranny result).
