Hey, I stayed at the Sea Mist on S. 13 Ave in Myrtle for about 8 days in june, and loved it. The hotel is perfect for kids, it has its on water park, 5 or 6 out door pools that I can remember and a few indoor w/ jacuzzi's and steam rooms. The rooms were nice, and not expensive compared to other hotels of the same quality. I was only 18 at the time w/ a part time job and could still afford it. The hotel is only about 10 minutes (depending on traffic conditions) away from major attractions like Broadway at the Beach, and such. I would recommed this hotel to anyone looking to stay in myrtle.

I hate to even tell people about this beach island because it's not well-known and we like to keep it that way. Mostly Mobilians own 2nd homes there. No traffic going down which is the big difference compared to Gulf Shores, AL or Florida Panhandle.
It's very reasonable to rent compared to Destin and other Florida Panhandle beaches(which ARE the best, sand and water-wise-sorry !Atlantic beaches don't compare). Angel Realty has a $99 a night on 2 bedroom homes if it's not crowded. There is sugar white sand and clear water, though not as clear like Florida's. We decided to build a home there over buying a condo elsewhere.
There is a pre Civil War Fort Gaines and a ferry to the Eastern Shore. Also the Sea Lab, a type of marine museum that is awesome. There are bike trails across whole island and no traffic. Also big bird watching park which is very well known. There is a wonderful RV park with short walk to beach through beautiful natural palmetto trail forest. Mostly beach houses here and only about 3 condo buildings. If you want a pool, try the condos.
Mobile is only 30 minutes to your north. LOTs to do there; we just got a Carnival cruise ship! Lots of museums. Exploreum Science museum for kids and Carnival museum. I think you can go to www.dauphinisland.com & go to links there. Also, www.mobile.org-

You aren't seriously attempting to compare the "beaches" of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico to the East Coast beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, are you? Alabama and the Florida panhandle better than Acadia, Maine? Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Mass? Newport, Rhode Island? The Hamptons, Long Island, NY? Sandy Hook, Long Beach Island, Atlantic City, Cape May, New Jersey? Assateague Island, Maryland? Chincoteague, Virginia? The Outer Banks, North Carolina?

You cannot be serious. We haven't even touched on everything from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to South Beach, Miami. Nothing tops the Atlantic Ocean coast. Sorry to hear that you do not travel much.
