We were portrayed through rose tinted glasses. Everything is overpriced (from shopping, accommodations, & food) compared to other Florida destinations - including ones that are similar in its artistic and small beach town appeal. Sand is very shelly, sometimes unbearable to walk barefoot on. The southwestern Gulf Coast is plagued with red tides. Dead fish wash up on shore and/or beach-goers get sick or feel a burning in their eyes and/or throat from the algael bloom. RESPIRATORY WARNING. No pets on beach, frisbee tossing is frowned upon - not very family friendly. The nightlife they speak of is non-existant. No waves = no surfing. If you have money, retired, have no children, and don't mind a very bland style - Naples is the place for you. Otherwise average families would be better suited going to any other beach in Florida. And this all being said from a resident of Naples. One word best describes the number 1 position, overrated.

He's right...its a miserable place. Way too many snowbirds...too many foreign tourists. Lousy weather. Can't you all stay away and let us enjoy the place in peace?
