We are looking to spend Spring Break as a family at a beach. We want great sand, beautiful water, great food and not over crowded. Is Destin the place? If not where?

Our family has traveled to Destin for the past 4 years each summer. I can't say how spring break is, but summer is great. We stay at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. The views are great and the sand is wonderful. The resort is gated and only guests can access the beach. I recommend booking a condo at the Westwinds facility. On the property, there are several golf courses, restaurants, shopping in addition to the other places in Destin.

I haven't been to Destin yet, but I've been to Gulf Shores, AL many times with my family, and I always recommend the area. There are lots of family-friendly events and attractions, if the beautiful beaches aren't enough! This web site is a helpful resource: www.thebeachiscalling.org.

I have been to both Destin, Fl and Gulf Shores many times. They are both wonderful. If you are young and want action it is Panama City. But I prefer Destin and Gulf Shores.

If you are not wanting a crowd go to Orange Beach. Destine is nice, but very crowded and lots of traffic. Orange Beach has the same beutiful sands and water without the crowd.

I agree, Orange Beach is also great...pretty much anywhere on the Alabama Gulf Coast is great. If you want a family vacation, I would not recommend Panama City during spring break. It's pretty rowdy with high school and college students. I wouldn't want to have my children in that environment.

I have been to Destin many times and Spring break isn't the time to go. It is too cold in March-April we just didn't enjoy it. We go further south like clearwater/st pete/siesta key for more heat!
