Any suggestions where to stay "right on the beach" in Siesta Key for accommodations. Also, any suggestions for good restaurants there?

Hello my friend. Well I may be a little biased as I have lived here on and off since the 50's. When you are on Siesta Key, you are literally on the softest sand in the world, plus no matter how hot it gets, your feet never do.
The sand is actually cool even if it is 90 outside.....

There are many neat little cottages that have been there for ions, little efficiencies that are a riot to rent. This way u don't have to constantly depend on eating at Restaurants all the time.
The people there are so friendly and during the Spring break time, the place is really bustling.

You can walk in any store with your bathing suit, just wear flip flops, (You don't want to stand on someone else's spit do you??)
Every one is pretty laid back and there is usually music playing somewhere day or night around the beach.
When you are on the pavillion at the beach, you can buy sovineers but you are not innodated with a bunch of people hanging all over you. You can cool off with some delicious ice cream home made and there is usually someone singing until about 5. The pavillion is a fun place to meet people. I have seen weddings going on while you see the people on wind sales or having a ball on the jet ski's.
Depending what you are looking for there are really laid back rest. open aired, or right across from the beach is a great French Rest.
At night it is sooooooo beautiful especially during a full moon, you don't have to pay to go to the beach, and the dolphins during feeding come in pretty close to the beach.
The parking lot is huge, but you eihter have to get there early for the morning sun, or after 3 for the afternoon sun. It is hard to find parking from 10-2, (but that is the worst time to be on the beach as far as getting burnt)~
If you don't have a base, I really don't recommend that you stay out too long during those hours. I have seen to many people with sun poizening and they all say, don't worry, I never burn.........NOT!!!!!! You are in the tropics and close to the equator, so that sun will slowly cook you raw, b4 u know it.
There is volley ball, if you have kids a park, you can picnic there, and most of all you can just relax.
Siesta Key was recently voted 4 years in a row, the whitest finest sand in the world, only I hate telling to many people about it, they seem to want to move down after they have spent a week or two here...lol....
There are plenty of little motels, and you can check AAA and find even Condo's on the beach.
It really is a beautiful beach, and if you are coming for a visit, I pray you have a really enjoyable stay......

a group of our friends went to siseta key a couple years ago and I have to absolutly agree with you it was amazing ! we went parasailing and saw manatees right next to the boat, the water was crystal clear and it was busy but never too crowded. we rented a condo with private beach access and grilled and made food. we went to dinner a couple of night, siesta key oyster bar was fun and there was an awesome lil italian restraunt... we are 22 and it seemed like a nice mix of all ages.. it was probably the best vacation i have taken to date!
