I will be traveling to Rome for my brothers wedding at the end of November and i am requesting some recommendations on apartments for rent. We will be a party of 4 people, 2 couples.
Hi. I actually got married in Rome last summer as well. I don't know anything about apartments in Rome, but there were 7 of us and we stayed at the Hotel Virgilio. We booked through venere.com . It's very small, but comfortable. The rooms downstairs are no bigger than a closet, but the second and third floor had very nice size rooms for sleeping 4. Breakfast is included and there is a great little restaurant across the street. Hope this helps.
Hey! My family just got back from a trip to Rome, my fourth time. I used the website www.halldis.com to rent an apartment for this trip. They were great! The apartments are very nice, the company is super helpful and pretty much everything is included in the rent. If you have never been to Rome staying in the city center is good, but the prices will be a bit much. Trastevere or the neighborhoods near the Vatican are good alternatives and better prices. I hope that helps!
I have been to rome many time, don't know that much about apartments, but as far as hotels go, I will look into let's go europe book for some of the ones around termini train station, they are great for couples, there are a few of them that share the same building, so you will find a few of them with the same address, but in a different floor. I have always stayed there, they are safe and comfortable, I was there in april '07 for the last trip.
My 10 yr old daughter and I went for 10 days in March 2007 and we just confirmed our trip in March 2008 because we had such a BLAST! We booked our apartment through venere.com and stayed at Thomas Mann that you could walk right out the front door and you were staring at the pantheon. It was a great location because you were central. I know they are undergoing remodeling now, so we have booked through romeby.com (Central B & B)a right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. All the rooms are pretty small compared to US standards, but who wants to do anything more than shower and sleep in the room. So much to see and do (even with a 10 yr old girl with me). The Termini location has been mentioned and they are cheaper rooms, but beware, that is where the pickpockets hang out. Lots of people there and I didn't feel safe there after dark. We came back by train after visiting Naples and Pompeii. I found everything safe everywhere else. We were walking the streets until 1 am most mornings. Everyone was so friendly to my daughter, guess there are not too many 10 yr old blonde hair blue eyed girls roaming around Rome). Anyway you go, you will have a ball. We are going back because we missed SO much. If you plan it right and hit your "high" spots, you will enjoy it. Remember you can't see it all unless you live there. Ciao!
Howdie: We wil be in Rome in October 08, with two Seniors/ How is the best area to stay, near to the attractions . Any ideas on air fares? Our first visit, any help is welcome.
You will love Rome! Venere.com is the way to go. Check out a place called Marellen. It is wonderful and the owners are very helpful. It is close to Termini and very central. If you don't like to walk, you can purchase a weekly bus pass and use it as much as you want. The bus system is equal to NY as it runs often and services the entire area. I have been many times and never had any problems in the Termini area. Common sense is helpful. Don't carry a purse, put some money in a front pocket as well as your ID. Keep the larger bills separate aonly use small ones and you will be fine. Watch for the "locals" resturants, the food is great and less expensive. If you really need an apartment try sublet.com, they have some nice ones for 4-6 people at VERY good rates. Enjoy.
