Recently saw the show on TexMex border. I respected and appreciated the nod that Mexican cooks deserve. Having worked with many Latinos for over a decade, I am tired of the general public's ignorance of what is "behind the scenes". I admire the hell out of my employees. I am overwhelmed with emotions when discussing the impossible predicaments of their illegalities, as so many have created lives here and would take dual citizenship in a mere heartbeat. I love Mexican food. Real Mexican food. More shows around the U.S. about "The Border". That border is very elastic, and very tricky. It affects every single person that lives in this country.

Please People leave the politics out of the show. I was stunned when I saw this episode and shocked at how Tony and his producers have no regard to the laws of the United States.
I guess the way Tony sees it is if you can cook, "come on in".
Sorry, If I want to see this I'll go rewatch Obama speeches or turn on CNN.

To HubFoodBlogger: What do you mean by leaving politics out of the show? I may be mistaken, but when Tony visits areas of the globe, he views and discusses opinions offered by the indigenous population (political or not). Sure, their beliefs may be controversial, but that's part of what makes the show interesting and thought provoking.
I take it from your response, I have a pretty good idea what camp you're from, and I'll just leave it at that. But that doesn't mean the rest of us have to bury our heads in the sand after retreating to white gated communities.

I recently moved really close to one of the towns featured in that episode. Congrats mcsquare- you hit the nail on the head and you're preaching to the choir!
If I'm not mistaken, history (not politics) has explained that this country was built mainly by people from somewhere else! Which begs the questions- where are the ancestors of the "critics" of this episode from? Should their families have not been allowed into this country?
