We saw Anthony in Portland Oregon last night. The event was not as smooth as I had hoped (people interupting him for autographs when others had to pay extra big bucks for a VIP reception in order to do the same thing, lame questions during the Q&A that went on and on- I am sure he thinks people in Portland are morons)
Getting to the point: I would watch Anthony regardless of where he goes. Not in a creepy stalker way.... What makes the show is Anthony himself. He seems very sincere and appears to be a very genuine nice guy. I may be one of his more conservative fans but I never tire of his take on our world and his example of acceptance. Maybe we need to send him to countries where the US needs a positive embassador. Please tell him thank you for coming to Portland.

I have been re: "Bourdain'ed" again... I flew from Las Vegas, Nevada and met up with my brother in Redmond then we drove three hours to Portland just to see Anthony speak. This was my first time to see Anthony "Live" in person and I was very excited to see Anthony in person. The only problem was that he spoke for approximately 1/2 hour and the next hour and a half was mostly questions from the audience that was mostly inaudible because of the audience’s lack of patients with the question goers’. It would have been great to just hear Anthony speak the whole time, but what I heard from him the first half hour was very informative and enjoyable. If I would have had the opportunity I was going to ask Anthony is: What was the most memorable food that you have ever tasted and where and were you able to re-create that taste or flavor. I have two memorable food memories on my world travels. The first was in Rotarura, New Zealand in 1988 sampling carrot soup for the first time and turned out to be the best soup of my lifetime. The second was in 2008 in Chengdu, China at a three star hotel where I had a smoked mushroom dish that was prepared on a rock/stone plate. I have never been able to recreate or have those wonderful tastes as of yet. Thank you for coming to Portland and giving me the chance to see you speak. I hope to see you again in the very near future!
