I watched the Xian episode last night and loved it as well. I thought it was interesting to see the Terra Cotta soldiers. I hope to one day make my way to Xian and see them as well. Sam's 12 hour night train ride looked really fun. I think I would probably do the exact same thing as well. The train looked surprisingly clean and comfy. Even though Xian looks very smoggy, I absolutely loved the look of the town and Sam's hotel. It was also a really nice way to end the episode at the water fountain show, even though it looked like some of the scenes were edited out of order. I believe Sam was wearing the same outfit earlier in the show even though she said it was her final night.
Bravo to Sam and The Travel Channel for 3 quality hours of TV.
I also loved the show. I am going to China in October. I would love to get a foot massage at the same place Samantha did in Xian. Did anyone catch the name of the place?
The foot/body massage was at Sang Ye Tang (sp?)...that's per the notes that I was taking during the show. I, too, am going to Xian in October. I noticed that Samantha's tour guide in Xian was Jason Hu. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him? I'd like to hire him as my guide.

Sam mentioned that you can hire an English-speaking guide through your hotel, and she stayed at the Hyatt Regency Xian so I suppose she booked him thru the hotel concierge. Maybe you can get on the Hyatt Xian website and email them about this. Or you can check with the concierge at your hotel if you're not staying at the Hyatt and see if they've heard of him, or they can book someone else for you.
